Pours a dark chestnut, almost a cola brown, with a thick and frothy buff head that pillows after a couple minutes. Aroma has roast malt, caramel, woody, and subtle honey tones. Flavor starts with toasty malt and then cues caramel, nutty, earthy, and shy honey notes to add to the sonata. Firm texture is smooth, yet fairly tingly, so it goes down well, leaving a caramel and earthy finish. Support your local!

Corked and caged 750ML bottle. Dark pour, nearly brown, under a creamy brown head. Aroma was honey, yeast, and malt. Enjoyable flavour of cloves, yeast, malt, and honey. Smooth mouthfeel, and a hint of honey to finish. Nice enough, but not as good as Local 1.

Pours a dark tea brown, tall tight off white head, good lacing. Head is sustained leaving substantial lacing. Aromas of light ripe fruits, some brown sugar and honey, Belgian yeasts, very very slight orange zest, malts. Flavor is slightly sweet from yeasts and honey, nicely lingering, nice ripe fruits, light bananas, yeasts and sweet maltiness. Worthy - will try again.

750 ml "champagne"-corked bottle, shared at local tasting, thanks to Sigrid S. ABV is 9%. Brown colour, large off-white head. Sweetish aroma, some stale notes, not impressive. Medium sweet flavour, fruity, some stale notes again, a bit disappointing.

So much foam it wont stop bubbling. Brown body, tall faomy fluffy cap. Not much aroma, faint hints of yeast, sourness, I smell banana but i might be making that up. Taste is fuller, sweet, caramel, yeast, wheat, nice light spice. The body is a little thin and has a weird but workable vanilla flavour. Nuts show up in finish, weird lingering bitter. good brew I enjoy it but nothing overly special.

Figs, as in the fresh ones, definately the front runner in this beer. Listening to Burial - "Fostercare", bit of a soapy head but fairly small bubbles with incredible retention and some lacing. Next dominent flavour/aroma, malt, carmel and alot of it, nothing really sweet about it all, just malt, maybe some munich... but mostly great dark malts. Something I cant really place............JESUS! its the honey! definately! a dry dark, smelly honey, really thick, really resinous, birch bark type of honey, wow now that i have a word for it its all over the place! some floral, some different tree barks, some orange, some watermelon seeds (the best part about that reference is that it is more imaginary than snooszberry). Yum.

Bottled@Kaisla, Helsinki. Slightly hazy ambery brown colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is mild zest, quite strong on the malts, mild spices as well as some slight notes of syrup. Flavour is being quite similar with some dark dry fruits as well as mild yeasty and toasted notes.

Sampled at GABF on 9/17/2010. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a light brown color from a 750ml bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, yeasty and sweet. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, lots of apricots and peaches. The hops are herbal. Lively carbonation. Nice balance. Very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

August 2009 - Pour was amber/brown with an aroma of syrup. The flavor was that of belgian fruity malts, honey, molasses, brown sugar and raisins. Mouthfeel was really carbonated. A decent brew. No complaints, no wows.

I have to be honest, the first time I tried this I nwas thinking it would be similar to "Local 1".....but I was pleasantly surprised. This beer was akin to an Abbey Dubbel in some ways with a murky brown appearance, and sugar in both the nose and taste. There is dark malts in the aroma, and a decent hoppy finish. Not a bad beer at all.
