BrewDog Brixton Porter
BrewDog Brixton Porter
Rated 3.175 by BeerPalsThe dark renaissance, roasty dark complex. The bastard lovechild of the industrial revolution; an 18th Century London original. Updated. This dark handsome brute has flavour and then some. This is a beer black ordered. Beer like it was. Beer like it should be. Beer like it will be. Immerse yourself in initial chocolate and coffee hit as the encapsulating roastiness takes hold. This renaissance beer is oak aged for complexity which adds rich vanilla into the mix before the dark fruits drill your senses into an orgy of untold pleasures. Brixton Porter is a dark liquid voyage of discovery. A seafaring dog with beguiling tales to tell. Surrender to the dark side. Malts : Extra Pale, Dark Crystal, Roast Barley, Black. Hops : Bravo, Brainling Cross, Challenger.

330 ml capped bottle, Batch 143. Poured in a snifter an unfiltered and opaque dark-dark-brown, close to black, coloured Porter with a one finger tan foamy head that had a mid-sized retention and tons of micro bubbles. Low carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is roasted malts, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate and dark fruits tones. The flavour is roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, ashes, fruity, prunes, citrus, spicy, licorice vanilla and a touch of cinnamom. The mouthfeel is light crispy, sparkling and quite thin. The texture is watery. This light bodied Porter has a long dark bitter chocolate and ashy finish. A pleasant and quite nice Brixton Porter, but I don't why, I'm not entirely convinced by it.
