Vanilla, prune, and citric acid in the nose. Pours a clear very deep ruby with an offwhite head with god retention and no lace. Mouth is creamy with a full body. The unbeerlike flavor is appropriate for the style. Vanilla and chocolate dominates with a nice hop tingle at the end, alcohol is warming, pretty nicely done although not my cuppa.

12oz bottle -
Aroma - vanilla, light chocolate
Appearance - dark brown body, 2-finger tan head, average retention, nearly no lacing
Mouthfeel - light mouthfeel, light carbonation, silky mouthfeel
Flavor - heavy vanilla flavor, milk chocolate, touch of coffee but vanilla is the focus
Overall - solid vanilla flavored porter. Breckenridge succeeded in creating something tasty and chock full of vanilla flavor. Well done. -

Looks like a cola with a creamy beige head, decent retention and nice thick creamy lace. Mild chocolate malt with hints of vanilla. The taste is sweet and nutty with the light vanilla that is real. Suttle is the vanilla in this one, not overpowering the porter and not being heavy on the stomach.

Ruby red color that poured a thick white head. I enjoyed the aroma but not the taste. Vanilla in a coke is a bad idea and it's a bad one in a porter. Leaves a coating on your tongue like chalk.

Opaque dark ruby red, not quite black with light brown small foam head, lacing. Aroma is caramel with vanilla. Taste is chocolate with nuts and some cold coffee. Aftertaste is somewhat bitter, coffee. (Houston 201306)

Deep brown with a light dusting of foam. Creamy caramel and fruity aroma, something like persimmon. Nice show there. The vanilla is also fairly subtle in the flavor compared to some other brews, more in the texture and deeper notes than up front, mellowing rather than charging-- which is to say, it's more like *vanilla* than many "vanilla" flavors. There's more emphasis on wood and cocoa, with a hint of coffee and smoke, in this taste. It's like seeing the softer side of a good porter, and could become a good gateway to porter (and even other styles). Not complicated, not excessively bold: gently but firmly good. Just a little sticky, almost medium bodied, just the right amount of carbonation. Count me impressed.

I had this the night after Thanksgiving at my buddy's house. My big hangup with this beer is that it was THIN and it didn't smell like vanilla! That is just wrong. The flavor was flat on the vanilla too and the little vanilla I could taste was more of the vanilla cookie variety and not the vanilla extract variety. Not real great.

Thin brown pour, tight light tan head, ample lacing. Light vanilla aroma that increases as it warms, toasted malts, very light molasses, all blending nicely into a great nose. Toasted malt flavor, light vanilla coffee, very light brown sugar and molasses. Shared this bottle with a good friend and it was mutually enjoyed.

Sampled this at the Pub. This is also not my favorite of styles. Poured with a brown body that showed some ruby highlights, the head was white in color and didn't last long and not much lacing was left. The aroma was of vanilla and was way too noticeable, not sure but there may have also been some roasted malt presence and some chocolate. The taste carries over from the aroma with way too much vanilla with a little roasted malt and chocolate but don't come close to balancing things out.

Dark red pour with a thin offwhite head. Plenty of lace left on the glass. The aroma was vanilla with some coffee in the background. Nice vanilla aftertaste which reminded me of vanilla extract. The mouthfeel was a little on the thin side but overall this was a really enjoyable beer.
