Our quadruple ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn, and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10.5%. BB date 06-2014. Hazy orange-brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of mild spices, caramel, brown kandij sugar, dark dried fruits, spice cake. The flavour is rich, spicy, full of dark dried fruits, and very pleasant - but not too sweet. Sufficient hops, and dangerously drinkable.

Poured into a tulip glass. A golden brown color with red highlights. Even with a gentle pour, I get a two finger plus, foamy tan head. The aroma of Belgian yeast and caramel malt with hints of banana, clove and coriander. Tastes as it smells, with the spices leading and the malt finishing. Clean and refreshing mouthfeel. Ample carbonation assists in dispersing the flavors. This normally would not be my first choice of styles when it comes to beer, but this came recommended from a friend. A pleasant surprise. A nice refreshing beer on a humid spring afternoon.

Comes out of the bottle a pretty and very inviting clear coppery red-brown with a nice light tan head that is none too persistent. Malty aroma has a strong spicy undertone, mainly cinnamon and cloves and quite appealing, with just a touch of caramel. Texture is fizzy, dancing on the tongue and leaving a fairly persistent fizz on a malty, caramel finish. Look for this one!

A dark mahogany colored beer with a big sudsy textured off white head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. A moderate ringlet and light film. Dark fruit and earthiness in the nose and more so in the tasting. An alcohol bite warms the palate. Well done.

Pours out deep brow with a ever lasting foamy head. The aroma is bold. The mouthfeel is thick. The taste is good but hard to think about because I'm drunk. I need to buy this one again. Okay I'm sober this time and this is sweet and rich with the taste of banana. Really glad I visited this one again.

Quads are one of my favorite styles, and this is not one of my favorite versions. Plenty of alcohol warmth, raisins, dates (maybe figs), and the slightest suggestion of chocolate. Thick, foamy head, like the foam from my shaving soap. Good, but my no means gotta-have, as it feels rather thin. It just doesn't have that zing, that special quality that makes me stop and reel from sipping it...it's like a poorly amplified acoustic guitar; there is no "atmosphere" to it. Bready in the nose and on the tongue. My first Boulevard beer, based on the hype, and very well might be my last (way too expensive for what it is).

Strong effervescent caramel pour with a thick soapy head. Raisin and dates lead the charge in aromas followed by a muted malt presence. Pleasant carbonation and a silky mouthfeel lend to drinkability - no notes of the high abv. Fruit forward flavors of the aforementioned raisins and dates accompany a slight biscuity malt and rock sugar sweetness. This is good, but as others have noted it doesn't stand out.

Cloudy amber pour. big head. Fruity and yeasty. Aroma of bread, fruit, spice and alcohol. Flavor similar with some toffee and duustiness in there as well. Sharp feel, perhaps a bit too alcoholic, but still a nice brew (though not a standout in style).

Pours a color that reminds me of a good apple cider. One finger white head with a crapload of carbonation that dances around in the glass. Aroma is sweet and has a fruit consistency to it. Aroma is also giving off a hint of what you would normally find in a Czech pilsner, slightly shunkish but not detouring from it. Taste as first sip is slightly metallic and sour. After second swig I can taste pepper, yeast, and what can be described as dry fruits. Alcohol is not very noticeable in this one but you can feel the burn as it goes down. Finishes off dry with a lingering burn in the stomach. Overall a nice representation of the style from Boulevard but the high ABV takes away from the overall taste. I have had better but this one is good.

Cloudy copper with a big head of huge bubbles that quickly dissolves. Aroma of tart, musty fruit; caramel sweet and lemon bitter. Hops bitterness up front with a malty back for some juxtaposition. Not complex. Toasty raisin and lemon, hint of smoke and mild suggestion of clove later. Large bubbles, wet but a little sticky. Not the best of the style-- too many quads are much, much better-- but decent.
