Pours a nice clear cinnamon brown with a thick and rather persistent fluffy wheat head. Malty aroma has hints of cloves and caramel and a snip of yeast. Malty flavor has firm notes of hay, cloves, caramel and resin, plus nutty and earthy hints. Texture is smooth and a little thin but fairly fizzy, leaving a rather hoppy finish. May this give you pleasant flashbacks.

This beer poured a mostly clear light brown/copper/dark orange color. The head was very frothy and rocky. Egg shell color. Very thick and bulbous. Had some very nice retention and left some nice lacing also. A very mild citrus aroma (grapefruit). A more robust, dark, earthy tone seems to dominate the nose. Smells similar to a caramel apple. Lightly sweet undertones. A toasty biscuit hides in the backgound for a little extra complexity. The taste provided more of the caramel sweetness than the aroma. A nice hop bite jumps out. The citrusy flavor is letting itself be known, but not getting in the way of the toasty biscuit and caramel. Somewhat of a "woody" flavor also. Medium mouthfeel. Nicely dry and smooth. Leaves a pretty good amount on the palate, but not a whole lot. It's even somewhat crisp. This is a pretty solid beer. Nothing outstanding, but easily drinkable. The beer is not as balanced as some others, but still a pretty good showing. I could handle a couple of these during one setting, no problem, but I might move on to other things if they were available.

A brown ale that is damn near imperial. A solid effort from a brewery that gets forgotten way too much.
Smells of a ton of malt and sugar with some alcohol thinks milk duds the candy. Pours Solid brown in color with a ok head that last for a bit. Medium body, smooth finish and good carbonation. Carmel, some citrus, malt, sugar a slight bitter finish.. Not Too bad -

A beer of the month club entry for Dec/Jan 2011. Pours a nice coppery brown color. Well balanced flavor of hops and spice with a small amount of sweetness. Very drinkable with enough flavor to make the experience a pleasure.

had on tap at the last brewfest i attended. not up to par with Dogfish's indian brown, but still a nice hoppy twist on the classic style. worth a shot, but not quite enough to seek out again.

It pours a dark brown with red and a thin white mouthfeel, some lace. An aroma of caramel malts, hops, orange and citrus, raisin, and a combo of spices. The mouthfeel is smooth, silky, and rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, citrus, light raisin, and spices. Excellent!!

Sampled on 4/30/2010. This brown ale pours a medium brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is hoppy, malty, caramel and sweet. A medium bodied brown ale. The malts are caramel, bready and semi-sweet. The hops are grapefruity and piney. Nice balance. Decent carbonation. Nice caramel malts are balanced by the hoppiness. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

A murky copper colored beer. A moderate yellow tinged frothy textured head rises above. Not much hang time but a fairly impressive lacing is left behind. Nice film and cap. Piney hops and caramel in the nose. Medium to light bodied. Clean finish. Flavoring is hops, pines and citrus Subtle burnt caramel comes up in the rear. I liked this one.

12 oz bottle. Pours an amber brown with a frothy off-white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet caramel malts, roasted nuts, and fruity resiny hops.
The flavor is sweet caramel malts and fruit followed by a decent amount of bitterness in the finish (more bitter than I remembered). The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with good carbonation.
Overall, a very nice hoppy brown - one of Boulder's better brews. -

I liked this better the second time I tried it. Seemed a bit thin for an Indian Brown, but only had maybe 2 others to compare it (one being DFH which was heavier, stronger, more flavor, etc.). Has a lighter to medium semi-clear, brown appearance. Aroma and tastes of caramel and hops. I like the balance, sweet start with nice hoppy finish. Another solid brew from Boulder Beer!
