Porter is a London style that became extinct until revived by North American craft breweries. Ed’s Porter is a robust beer with a roasty palate and a rich ebony color. Our version of the English style of black beer that almost went extinct. Lots of chocolate malt and English hops. Flavorful yet drinkable. Facts: O.G. 1050, I.B.U. 29

Had this one in Little Rock. Looked nice off the tap, albeit rather average. Malty, chocolately and full-bodied, but no complexity or any distinguishing charateristics to set it apart from a sea of others.

Tasted on tap at Nashville Brewpub. This porter pours a dark brown color. Small sized beige head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee with some roasted malt. A medium bodied porter. Malts are slightly roasty and chocolate. Hops are floral and earthy. Nice chocolate flavors. Nice balance. Would make a nice session porter. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Black ruby body with a nice, lasting pale tan head. The malty aroma is roasty with a hint of smoke. In the flavor, the roast and smoke is joined by a tad of chocolate. This is a very tasty porter from a very interesting little brewpub. They aren’t stretching the limits on IBUs and OGs, but they can really brew a decent pint.

Sampled on draft at the Nashville brewpub. Pours a very dark brown, but when backlit, has remarkable clarity. Mild smoke aroma is followed by a burnt coffee, caramel, and hints of spice. Finishes a bit sweet. Full bodied and smooth. A good beer, and I'd say average for the style.
