Moose Drool is our Brown Ale. Far and away the best selling beer brewed in Montana, Moose Drool is chocolate brown in color with a creamy texture. Our brown ale is a malty beer with just enough hop presence to keep it from being too sweet. The aroma also mostly comes from the malt with a hint of spiciness being added by the hops. Moose Drool is brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate, and whole black malts; and Kent Goldings, Liberty, and Willamette hops. It has an original gravity of 13 degrees Plato, and is 4.2% alcohol by weight, 5.3% by volume.

I have to admit, I was put off somewhat by the name, after all, spit isn’t something I crave. The beer is a clear brown beer with a thin creamy off-white head. Good lacing. Aroma is bread, nutty malt, and weak coffee. Mouthfeel is average. Flavor is light caramel, nuts, yeast, and it finishes with a bitter hop kick!

Aroma is licorice, molasses and medium roasted nuts and slight floral hops. Taste is extremely rich, almost chewy malts with notes similar to aroma. Appearance is an orange amber with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

Mild American Brown, I was expecting a more robust offering. Cola colored pour with a diminishing, but lasting light tan head. Lightly toasted bread, caramel and biscuits.......that's about it. Medium to light bodied for the style, easy going. Would be good for tailgating and other forms of partying.

Pours a deep brown with good clarity when held to a light and has a nice creamy, tan head and stays intact nearly to the bottom of the glass. The taste is milk chocolate with hints of earthy hops and crystal malt. The milk chocolate notes continue into the body of this beer, but it also picks up a substantial amount of earthy hop notes to balance things out. The beer has enough carbonation to make it exceptionally creamy.

Had this a couple times now. Pretty decent, and a well above average brown ale. Pretty smooth, creamy, and a nice malty, nutty, caramel flavour. A bit of an 'in the mood/season' beer for me, but a solid performer.

My first beer from Montana State, purchased at Total Wine on my trip to Vegas. Pours a clean deep brown colour with a beige head that sticks around and leaves dirty lace. Smells a bit different at first, but gets better with breathing. Aromas of darker breads, caramel, roasted malt and molasses. The mouthfeel is pretty smooth and almost creamy. The taste is a little lighter than expected form the rest. A mild mix of caramel, roasted and other sweet malts. The hop sometimes shows up, but seems a bit soapy. Not bad, nice name and love the picture on the label of the moose in a lake, drooling.

Name alone was enough to intrigue me... drawn medium brown with a thin tan head and nutty aroma. Nice nutty/malty aroma, with just enough hops to temper the sweetness. Clean finish and a very nice brown ale.

Considering the silly name and graphic on the bottle I was not expecting very much. To my surprise the brew was nicely flavored, nicely bodied and with a pleasant sweet malty flavor that gives the moose of the world the credit they richly deserve!

Pours an opaque chocolaty brown with a thick, fairly persistent pale tan head. Strong, malty aroma has tones of yeast, toffee and caramel. Lively flavor is yeasty and malty with a toffee undertone and even a smoky hint. Texture is quite fizzy, leaving behind a strong and persistent tingle. I’m glad I found this one!

I found this last week at the Green Dragon last week in Portland so I gave it a shot. Dark mahogany color with great head and great lacing. Dark roasted caramel and nut aroma and flavor. Light body and smooth. Very nice.
