India Pale Ale is one of the great, classic styles of ale. Our I.P.A. is one for the true beer lover looking for a beer with presence: dry, brisk, unrepentant. A craft brewery without a good I.P.A. is like a rodeo without horses. With 5.5% alc./vol., IPA will soothe any tired, achy muscles after a long day on the range. Internal use only.

A recent discovery for me as I was unaware that Big Rock had done a pale ale. The beer pours a red-tinged golden colour, clear, with a snow white ring for a head. Aroma is very malty with weak hints of citrusy hops. Like the aroma, the flavour falls short by being more on the malty side than on the hoppy side. Better than most Big Rock products however.

Color is amber yellow with small foam head. Aroma is citrus, not the hops I anticipated. Taste is small hoppy, more a lager then a IPA, bit dissapointing. Short dry bittersweet aftertaste. (Montreal 201210)

Not a good choice of beers after a twelve hour night shift. Not much aroma,or taste.Slight malt flavour and a little bit of hops.Thin wet effort for an IPA.

I am considering this only as a entry level beer, and for that its not bad. Greenish, fake smelling, hop aroma. Surprised that it smells as hoppy as it does actually. (Still watery). Malt profile is pale, medium bodied, gentle light carmel. Nothing offensive here, seems like a decent brew that was watered down.

Bottle: golden pour, smallish white cap with modest retention, weak lacing. Aroma is weal as well for a micro pale. some light fruit and cerial tones and some other funky cardboard notes. Thin mouthfeel, fiszzy, light malt up front and some minor hop presense, taste pretty much as it smess. Fast clean finish. I drank oceans of this in Calgary whe the Rock was the only micro in town...revisiting this beer documents their downfall into macro brewer wimpishness.

I generally like India Pale Ales and this one is not exception. It's not a standout in the IPA community, nor is it a drainpour. The beer was a light gold colour in the glass, and the aroma was slightly hoppy and citrusy. The taste is not as perfumy as some other IPAs I have had lately, but that can be a plus. Iwould recommend this beer to friends, it has all the right ingredients.

First thing I noticed on the label, is that it is only written Pale Ale and not India Pale Ale. Pours a clear golden-amber colour with a decent off-white head that leaves very nice lacing all-around. Not much carbonation. The nose is pretty nice with some bread and spices. The mouthfeel is a bit sticky. Grain malt is present in the taste with some mild bitterness in the finish. Now that they have changed the name from IPA to Pale Ale, this one is good.

In my book, this is a light IPA which mean they been conservative with the concentration of hops. That being said, this is a great beer,a great pale ale actually in the pure english tradition.Nice pale copper, medium head and great lacing, little hop aroma, flavor is definitely fruity sweet.Easy to drink full bodied just the right carbonation... Don't expect the big hoppy american or québécoise IPA but a very goood pale ale or ESB if you want i highly recommend this beer.

Note: Bottle sampled said IPA, not Pale India Pale ALe. Dark gold color. Medium head. Aroma is hoppy. A medium bodied IPA. Malty and hoppy. Somewhat juicy. Nicely balanced. A not to hoppy IPA. Grapefruit and citrus flavors are mild. More in the English style of IPA. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This beer pours a bronze/coppery color, white head that disappears quickly, leaving the slightest ring. Was really expecting something big from Big Rock, especially after label announces IPA. I wanted lots of hops in the smell and taste, but it just isn't there. The aroma is very light floral hops, but that was it. There is a bit more flavor than a regular lager with some bitterness. Reminds me of a Keith's IPA - quite bland for the style.
