Zatte Bie from Brouwerij de Bie is a jet black masterpiece called drunken honey bee, slightly spiced, six different malts used from pale to dark one gives smoky, roasted note that is rare in such a big beer. Truly endearing ale.

Another gift from a friend in Europe. The beer is coca cola black with a thin tight tan head. The aroma is bitter roasted malt, honey and caramel (sounds like a chocolate bar). The flavour was roasted malt with a slightly sweet finish. The bitterness came later.

Cloudy brown with a small but firm white head. Weak aroma of honey, nutmeg and cardboard. Flavour of honey with touches of roasted malts, mild anise and alcohol. Medium to full-bodied. Smooth mouthfeel. Honey in the finish as well with notes of grass and mild licorise. Pretty good.

cute label, beer is a rusty red brown color with a bubbly head. Mouthfeel felt flat at first but fine bubbles carried very nicely through the finish with a velvety body. Flavor started a little dull. A good caramel malt taste came out. Its dry. A rich but mild tasting roast....Fruit notes like apple, raisin and a pale nutty graininess. Nice yeasty taste in the finish. Strong Subtle and smooth

Ruby red colour, small beige head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, chocolate, honey and hops. Flavour is honey, chocolate, hops and some slight spicyness. Still a bit thin, but otherwise ok.

Sampled at the Palace Hotel in Poperinge, this one had a beautiful pour with a nice brune color. There were tart cherries and apples in the aroma and I was curious if it would take a Flemish sour spin at that point. The flavor was instead complemented by a nice candi sugar presence over top of the tartness. Some chocolate also tasted with vanilla and honey.

Has a thin white head and a very dark body. Aroma reminds me of honey nut cereal. The taste is very sweet with honey and some vanilla. There are also notes of chocolate, banana and some blueberries. There is molasses in the finish. This is very drinkable.

brown colour, big creamy head, ginger bread aroma, yeasty, a little bit too much carbonation, a touch of bitterness followed by an explosive, long yeasty aftertaste - subtile and powerful at the same time

Fruity and complex aroma, with a nice carmel undertone. Clear brown color with an off white head. Rich flavor with notes of chocolate and carmel. Some fruitiness (like raisin) is mixen in. Not bad and pleasant.

Darkish brown pour with a thin, lasting head. Sour and tart taste with notes of dried fruit, if you can get past the dankness of the brew (which I couldn’t). I hate spending $5 on drain pour.
