I wonder, does Bell’s have a Worst Brown Ale for us to compare it to? The beer pours a clear mahogany, with a weak white cap for a head. Lacing is non-existent. Aroma is sweet malt, some earthy hops, bready malts, and yeast. Mouthfeel is average to full. Flavor is balanced between the malty sweetness and the hoppy bitterness. I’ll have another.

Brown pour, thin head, very little lacing. Aroma of caramel malt and nuts. Quite tasty but sweeter than most brown ales. Caramel and breaded malt flavour and nutty. Thin but smooth mouthfeel. If you like brown ale I think you'll like this one.

Pours out a cloudy ice tea color with no head. The aroma is is a little like the smell of brownies. The mouthfeel is only average. The taste is of heavy rosted malt and burnt coffee. This is okay just not one of Bells best.

Great beer for an otherwise boring style. Enjoyed a 5-liter keg during the last Superbowl. Dark brown pour with tan head. Malt, chocolate, caramel, bready aroma and taste. Simple, easy drinking beer (I nearly finished the keg myself) that didn't distract from the festivities of the evening.

Pours a medium caramel with orange and amber highlights with a sticky small tan head. The aroma consists of nuts and toffee and is slightly metallic. The taste has a substantial hop bite right up front then is bitter and resiny with strong toffee and caramel. Roasted and slightly sweet in the middle and then bitter again at the end. The mouthfeel is smooth and slightly chewy.

Generous sample from #KnoxBeerCrew tasting - this one from my buddy Sam. Deep brown pour, not murky, ample off-white head, some lacing. Sweet and lightly roasted malty aroma, some nuts, a touch of caramel. Flavor is the same as the aroma with a nice very light hops linger in the end. Nice brown - Thanks Sam!

It's certainly not the best brown ale I've ever had. A nice mahogany pour with a thin tan head thatb lingers. Some roasted malt, caramel, nuts, and spice found in the aroma. The flavour was well balanced with the coffee and caramel, but was boring,

agreed on the "best" part of the brown, or almost at least. wonderfeul roasty malt aroma and even better flavor. smooth, but thin like most browns. VERY well done for the style. another winner from John :)

Mahogony color with a very thin off-white head. Fair amount of lace left on the glass. There was a sweet smell to the aroma. Malty and slightly sweet taste. Very enjoyable but a little on the pricey side.

I like this time of the year with the autumn and winter seasonals. Tried a few new browns this year, and am liking the style more with each good sample. May not be the "Best" brown ale that I tried, but is very drinkable, tasty, and quality. Appearance is medium cloudy brown. I would say the body is something in between Sierra's Tumbler and Cigar City's Maduro Oatmeal Brown (which may be my favorite in this style). Tastes like there may be a little oatmeal in this too, but just a trace if so. Caramel malts and noticable hop finish balanced nicely here. Definitely recommended.
