Spontaneous fermentation. Traditional Oude Kriek with an immense flavour of fresh cherries ! Oud Beersel Oude Kriek is an artisanal product, made from real cherries and Oud Beersel lambic matured in old barrels. They are slowly absorbed into the lambic, which develops a fruity character and a ruby red colour. Oude Beersel Oude Kriek is unique of its type in that it contains around 400 g of cherries per litre. Oud Beersel Oude Kriek has no added sugar and contains no artificial flavouring or preservatives. Ingredients : water, barley malt, wheat, 400 g/l cherries, hops. Colour : ruby red. Fragrance : surprising fragrance of sour cherries and almonds. Taste : The Oud Beersel Oude Kiek has a pleasant sourness of champagne. The real cherries unveil an overwhelming fruitness and the touch of almonds of the pip completes the joy. The spontaneous re-fermentation marries the cherries with the lambic and forms together a pleasant tasting experience. W B A 2009 - World's Best Kriek Beer. Bottle, home. Delicious kriek. This beer pours a bright shade of crimson with an enormous, bubbly pink head. It's obviously very carbonated as tiny bubbles race up the glass, champagne-like. The aroma is a fantastic mix of bright cherries and softly sour funk. It's really good cherry pie as a lambic. There's a little bit of vinegar in the flavor and somewhat more sour funk. It's a dry beer but the cherries nearly seem sweet. The mouthfeel is bubbly but soft and very clean. Excellent.

Aug. 2013: 375 ml corked & caged green bottle, from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 6.5%. Beautiful deep red colour, large pink head. Interesting aroma of sour cherries, farmhouse, dust and almond essence. Sour flavour, sour cherries galore, tart and slightly astringent. Moreish.

Pours hazy, barely translucent cherrywood with a thick, pink-buff head. Aroma delivers a firm note of sour cherry and apple. Flavor is quite sour, if not make-your-face-do-calisthenics sour, featuring notes of apple and cherry with a malty underpinning. Mouthfeel offers firm body and lively, sassy fizz. Enjoy!

375ml cork and caged bottle into a tulip - massively carbonated but a tremendously gorgeous deep red with a big, pink head. Total funk on the nose with faint fruity notes. Intense tartness up front with faint cherry notes and cloying dryness. Not too sweet, which is good, as the tartness totally dominates. Very well done.

Impressive Kriek, and one of if not the best I've enjoyed thus far. The aroma is a perfect blast of mild fruity sourness and cherries. Light amber~brown pour with a wispy pinkish white head and strands of thick lacing. Moderately sour, but quickly balanced by a pleasing fruity sweetness, so good on the palate. Flavor follows the impressive aroma with a nice grassy wheat dryness and firm sour funk.

Woah! Pours glowing red with a thin white head ring. Aroma is sour cherry. Mouth is tart and tingly. Flavor is fun - nicely balanced between sour and flavor.

wish list cross-off from the Jug Shop in SF. i'm really diggin the balance of tartness and cherry flavor that was slightly lacking in the (regular)Cantillon Kriek i just enjoyed. quite tart up front, fizzy feel, gorgeous dark red color, and a very pleasant flavor. well done.

THis beer represents a powerul aromatic assault. Very tart aroma is a sign of things to come from the reddish brown lambic. Mixed in with the sour cherries are hints of earth and stream. The flavour is very tart, yet satisfying.
