Bottled. Amber colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is caramel, hops, malts and some mild sweetness. Flavour is grassy, caramelly and slightly of vegetables. Lovely aroma, but flavour was a slight disappointment. 8 6 6 6 6
Cask@GBBF2009. Deep amber colour, small head. Aroma is nutty, diacetylic, wooden and rather sweet overall. Flavour is much the same. Wooden and chocolateish notes in the finish. 6 6 6 7 7 -

clear amber-brown colour, little chaotic foam; fruity hoppiness (apple and somehting else I can’t name) with malty notes underneath; a bit oily and with a medium body; the moderate sweetness is balanced by a touch of late bitterness; the finish is quite dry with more fruity hoppy notes

Copper coloured, small creamy white head. Vague malty aroma with light perfumy hop notes. Grassy hops in flavour with firm malty body of toffee. Grassy hoppy aftertaste. An avarage bitter

A hazy dark amber or copper body with a VERY small head. I even poured this one rougher than usual. Very low carbonation. A good hazlenut nuttiness. A good breadiness with a very light bit of toast (not even brown toast, just slightly crunchy toast). There’s very little hops, but a little wood backing up the bready malt. A slight bit of apple or melon fruitiness. Very drinkable, but not exciting.

This beer comes courtesy of beerguy101. This beer pours a slightly cloudy and yet mostly clear ambery red color with a very soapy but small white head and no lacing. The aroma is moderate at best. It took a constant struggle to find any sort of aroma for the first twenty minutes here. I did manage to pull out some breadiness, perhaps a little citrus and a bitter hop or two. The mouthfeel is light and weak. There is little evidence of carbonation and although i fear alienation from my British brethren, I’d go as far as to say that this beer was flat as all hell and in the end it would up being boring as all hell!!!! The flavor is bready and slightly malty with hints of citrus. Slight dry bitterness in the finish, but overall unbalanced and uninteresting. Caramel could be detected ever so slightly in the mouthfeel, but other than that, this was a forgetable experience.

Orange gold color. Small white head. Aroma is caramel, orange and bread. A medium to light bodied bitter. Malts are bready and slightly sweet. Bready. Very flat, no carbonation at all. flat as a pancake. This british ale is also boring as hell. Watery and pretty dry. Bready and sweet and not much else. Bad bottle perhaps? Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Bottle (abv 4.8% rather than the 4.1% for the cask) from Waitrose, Bath. Nice, clear amber, with a slim white head, soon gone. Hoppy aroma with some malts. Hoppy taste, with toasted malts. Nice texture. A good well balanced bottled bitter.

Wow, this is the best pale ale I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. Very little carbonation makes this beer an excellent choice when in the mood for a decent ale, great taste, fantastic.
