Dark brown pour with tan head. Roasted coffee and vanilla dominate the nose with a hint of chocolate. Roasted malt, followed by vanilla, coffee and roasted malt on the palate. Long lasting coffee aftertaste. A fantastic blend of flavors that work well together. The alcohol is well hidden, but the effects show up afterwards. One of the best imperial porters I've had to date. Recommended.

Shared by Sam. Near-stout viscosity black pour, tall head and nice lacing. Huge vanilla initially in the aromas and flavor, then toast, chocoalte, light coffee, more vanilla. A fantastic porter indeed.

Pours out 100% black with a nice thick head. The aroma is smokey with notes of vanilla and coffee. The mouthfeel is good solid and right on the other die of thick. The taste is slightly hoppy with coffee and just almost to much vanilla for my taste . I would buy this again.

Wow.... I was nearly at a loss for words with this one, but I think I've recovered. Pours pitch-black with a full tan head. Dark roasted coffee, chocolate and vanilla complete the aroma with a barely perceptable hint at alcohol. The aroma translates to the flavor in perfect unison. Full bodied with the alcohol content masked very well. Someone's going to have to work hard to top this one.

22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown black with a big creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is huge roast coffee with fudgy malts and a little vanilla.
The flavor is a little more subdued than expected. Lots of roast coffee, chocolate malt and vanilla with a big bitter roast finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly watery.
Overall, a very nice coffee porter with nice chocolate and vanilla notes. -

Doesn't pour quite as thick as I thought it would. Tastes of that burnt Starbucks coffee flavor. Hints of bittersweet chocolate. The vanilla adds a lot of sweetness; it ends up tasting like one of those fancy coffee drinks. The aftertaste remains too sweet for me to drink it quickly. In fact, I've been drinking it so slowly that I don't feel a bit of the 10%. Granted, I like sipping beers, but this probably is not a repeater.

Pours a pitch black with a 2 finger chocolate colored head that takes its damned time. Aroma is heavy on the roasts and coffee grounds. Just a hint of toffee as well. Taste is very heavy on the coffee grounds. hints of malts and metal are present but not noticeable right away. Dry backing. For me the taste of coffee grounds were very over powering. Other than that it was a good beer.

# 2 in style. I would love to taste # 1. Being English I prefer the more traditional style. Although this is excellent. After 8 pints of Guinness and a couple of scotch my review might suck. Great stuff. If you see it,buy it. PS Yum

Fun. Pours black as night. Aroma is faintly a subtle vanilla. Mouth is full and round. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, with an overt vanilla. Very nice!

Pours black with tall, frothy head. Dark roasted coffee, chocolate, vanilla and alcohol interplay in the aroma--alluring. Certainly the best imperial porter I have ever tasted, the best porter for that matter, probably amongst the top 20-25(ish) best beers I've had. Wow. Rich and satisfying, the coffee character dominates. I am a full-blown coffee snob so I do not fall for just any coffee flavor in beer; it has to be extraordinary to hook me and extraordinary this is. Full bodied, gently carbonated with mild warming affect. Feeling very thankful to my pal slowrunner77 for sending this bottle my way. What a treat!
