Pours a warm, deep sable with a yellowish tan head. Strong aroma has roast malt, caramel and toffee notes. Flavor delights with caramel, coffee and fruity notes, no doubt from the figs and dates. Thick, heavy and fairly fizzy texture leaves a sweet, caramel and fruity finish.

Pour yields a 2 finger high, creamy, tan head with sticky lacing, and a murky black-brown colored body. The aroma consists of dark fruits (raisins, figs, dates), dark chocolate/cocoa, rich roasted malts, coffee notes, and molasses, with barrel qualities like oak, bourbon spice/heat, and vanilla coconut mixture. Much of the same in the flavor as I sip my way through this. It's like chocolate covered figs, dates, and raisins, mixed with cocoa, toffee, molasses, roasted malts, coffee grounds, butterscotch notes, and maybe the slightest hints of oak, bourbon spice, and vanilla. The body is medium, silky smooth. The finish is soft and dry but lengthy and leaves you with lots of figs and dates and airy chocolate. Overall its a fantastic beer, i havent been this impressed by a beer in some time. The best Imp. Porter i have had, hands down.

From my notes. Smells like bread and molasses and dates. Actually makes my lips tingle. Dark, rich, bold, strong (11%), and friggin' tasty. Reminds me of something... a shooter? Not port... Actually not my favorite, but a real treat.

A very fine beer. Great aroma, bursting with licorice and malty sweetness, touches of booze. Great thick body, a nice cling. The flavor is everything I could want, couldn't find any fault in the taste. A perfect balance of all the typical elements that make these big beers so good.

Wow. Had this in a wee snifter at Deschutes in Portlandia. My my my. This was a pretty friggin delicious beer. Pitch black. Nose like coffee beans and chocolat. Taste is so coffee it's ridiculous. Couldn't handle myself with this shit. Wanted to bathe in it. Wanted to pour it down my shirt do whatever. DAMN!

A wonderful rich chocolate aroma greets the nose right off. Good doses of roasted malt, and a dark fruit cornucopiaas well. The flavor is still sweet, but not overly so like last years was inching towards. Great full, smooth body, and a solid balanced flavor. Loving this as an after dinner type brew. A treat!
