500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 6.9%. Golden colour, large white head. Sweetish aroma of pilsener malts and floral and herbal hops. Fairly sweet and malty flavour, notes of honey and caramel, moderate herbal hops, the alcohol is noticeable. A bit too far out on the sweet side for me.

pours a burnt glden color with a small white head and left a little fancy lacing. The aroma was a muted caramel apple and sweet cooked brown sugar. The taste was a lovely mix of carmel and munich style malts, slight touch of noble hops and at the end, distinctly pleasant alcohol flavor. This is a classic, complex and rich beer. Mouthfeel is right on balance and is rich, creamy, full bodied. Very very enjoyable beer.

Pale in color with a full, rocky head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is all malt, like a bake shop. Thick and chewy mouthfeel, also a bit gritty, but not unpleasant. Flavor has some nice bittering, but the malt is the show here - very pronounced and very good. A bit of a yeasty note adds to the flavor and finish.
I've always liked this beer and have had trouble locating it lately - perhaps it no longer exists. All of the Ayinger products look the same on the shelf and every time I think I've found this one it turns out to be a bottle of Jahrhundert Bier instead. Hopefully it will make a comeback. -

Not available at the brewery, or in the store for the last couple of years, this was the very first Mai bock i ever drank! Maltz with a hopfen finish that you could not resist. Very nice color, and aroma as well. The chance of getting a not up to par bottle was very good, as the importer is not the best on quality control. Have not been to Aying this trip, I wonder if this fine brew was available this season? Better then Celebrator in my opinion!
