“Moog Filtered Ale is an American-style pale ale with distinctive notes of caramel and pine. It’s a very accessible beer that reflects the ingenuity and creativity behind the Moog legacy,” says Doug Riley, brewer and part owner of the Asheville Brewing Company. Named in honor of Bob Moog, an American pioneer in music technology.

    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Strong aroma is malty and fruity with yeasty and grassy overtones and a hint of horehound. It pours a clear golden amber with a thick, fluffy eggshell head. Malty flavor has an overtone of Mandarin orange with a hint of lemon, as well as subtle caramel and grassy notes and just a touch of hoppy bitterness. Smooth texture is fairly fizzy and leaves a malty, sour citrus finish that has a touch of hops. A worthy homage to the inventor of the legendary synthesizer!

A bottle I picked up on my recent trip to Asheville. Had to get it, out of respect for the man who changed music forever, Mr. Robert Moog. Pours a well carbonated, golden colour with a large frothy white top. Aroma has a soft floral, noticeably herbal aroma to it. Spice is present on the palate, bounces well with the effervescence. Fresh, ginger root, hops and pear flavors.
