Ale Asylum Ballistic IPA

This is a great change in ipas as it definitely, definitely, definitely has that marijuana flavor, which is not surprising coming out of Madison. One of my new favorite ipas. Mellower than caramel. No harsh ipa flavor. Doesn't make your tongue go numb.

Very malty IPA courtesy of heybeerman. Dark amber~copper body with a thin head and splotchy lacing. Some dank, catty hops with a touch of citrus and pine followed by a thick toffee and bread content. Full bodied for the style with a solid bitterness to counterbalance the sweet malts. Good drinking hoppy brew.

A very nice looking beer, a caramel orange color with a thin white head. A mild hoppy aroma with deffinite malts. Flavor is also a little milder than I'd hoped, good fruity hop bite up front and then malt at the back. A good beer without being overly exciting, a good session 6 pack.

pine resin and earth mixed in the aroma and flavor. not my favorite type of malts for this beer, but is was a decent refreshing ipa. light-medium bodied. amarillo hops are nice, but this is a one trick pony - a session ipa. trade from WI beer mafia!

big resin and earthy floralness in the 2 holed face triangle .. . dark dark tan, the bill-dozer.. . really tough foam .. . but when you smell the goaline, they're only words; just words .. . quite sweet, light hoppy mouth .. pretty slick but lucks an assertiveness like ricky suggs .. . i really enjoyed this brew, for the hop sniffers and a nice sessionable ipa that scores a touchdown and gets carried in for the 2 point conversion and then lets the other team score a consolation touchdown and then stammers incoherently ...

ANOTHER Wisconsin beer from pfoxyjohn. This one pours a cloudy orange-amber with a small white head and some lacing. Big grapefruit hops in the initial aroma with some malt sweetness to follow. Taste is exactly like the aromas - big grapefruit hops bitter then an almost gritty sweet maltiness.

The most intense beer I’ve ever tried up to this point. Wow! Aroma of hops and citrus fruit. Very intense flavor right away but it goes down smooth. Flavor of grapefruit and hops. I really enjoyed this.

This is a good example for armarillo hops. Very one-dimensional. Pours a nice ruby red, very attractive. The bottle looks an ipod commercial. Tastes like the a tone of the color green. Metallic fruit. Hoppy, poppy. Hop on pop, if you like it a lot. Don't worry be hoppy.

I must be missing something with this beer. If I'm a huge fan of hops loaded brew (which I am) I should probably really enjoy this beer, right? Tasting this beer was like licking a lemon. There was something unappealing and one dimensional (as stated below) about this beer that really dissapointed me. I am a big fan of Ale Asylum, i love all of their beers. But this one was subpar. A semi hazey amber colour with a fairly large head. Aroma has fruit on the nose and noticeable floral hops. But taste was sour. Turned me off completely. Very little malt character. A beer mainly dominated by an unbalanced overload of hops and nothing else. The hopalicious is one of my favorite beers around. It's too bad. I was really looking forward to this one.

On tap at the Monroe Street Bistro, this IPA poured a cloudy amber with a thin off-white head with good lacing and retention. Mouthfeel was fresh and soft but surprisingly skimpy considering the robust nose of bold grapefruit. Intense citrusy bitter flavor provided by the amarillo hops, but disappointingly one-dimensional. Lacks the desired complementary balance of a sturdy malt backbone, one of the best features of AA's Hopalicious. While lacking in complexity, this is still a pleasurable, fresh and tasty ale.
