Our Rod Bender Red is an American style amber ale which is characterized by medium to high malt character and medium to low caramel flavor. American amber ales have a medium bitterness derived from American grown hops. They are usually darker in color which comes from the addition of darker caramel malts and typically have more body than pale ales.

I wanted to like this more based on the brewer and their other beers that I tried, but just couldn’t really get into it. Bought it thinking it was a red ale, but amber fits the deScription more. Easy drinking and refreshing. Balanced more towards the sweeter end, as I prefer a hoppier red ale. I’ll sample again here or there to support the local guys, but not really going for another 6-pack of this.
