177 Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro United States Milk Stout 4.2

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8

Very pleasant nose, raisins, vanilla, chocolate, espresso, milk shake, and pine. Very dark brown with tiny hint of ruby and opaque body topped with a dark tan head that has very good retention and minimal lace. The nitro aspect is minimal in the pour which is OK by me. Very creamy in the mouth, moderately bodied. A fairly mild flavor profile is none the less well balanced. Some delicate chocolate notes, a malted milk malt flavor, some high notes of lactic acid, sweet at the finish but clean with little aftertaste. Alcohol very masked. Easy drinking!

178 Prairie Artisan Ales Gold United States Saison 3.8

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

AS with many of their beers this is not on their website, probably a one time brew. Bitter lemon, honey, slight banana, yeasty funk in the nose. VEry nice nose! Foggy warmish gold body with moderate white head that dissipates rapidly leaving no skim and no lace (this is really gonna knock down and otherwise lovely brew.) Lot of tingle in the mouth although perhaps its under-carbonated, semi slick and slightly watery. I like the flavor, it doesn't really follow the nose, interesting. Tastes very much like a hard cider. Yeasty flavors lots of really high notes, ending is sweet , finish is surprisingly clean and dry; evidence of the Brett working hard I suspect. Alcohol well masked. This beer really highlights the Brett and comes close to crossing the line from saison to gueuze. The Brett here leans towards the pineapple.

179 Omnipollo Machaper Sweden American Pale Ale 4.2

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

Ok, first of all I put this brewer in as Sweden because its Swedish dudes doing a "gypsy" thing and having beer brewed all over the place, in this case in Denver by Crazy Mountain brewing Company Limited. Very long lasting nose of grassy and lemon and honey with a hint of resin and some deep funk. Appears unflitered, lots of gunk on the bottom of the bomber ...hazy pale yellow body with a decent short lived head that is white white white, and minimal lace. Mouth is medium, slick, and moderately carbonated. Very unusual flavor profile. Classified as a Pale Ale because thats what the label alls it. Its certainly NOT an English style ale. Actually tastes like a slightly sour American IPA.The galaxy shines here, citric and tropical notes abound, lemon and passionfruit, hints of pineapple. Low malt presence for a Pale Ale (and maybe even for an IPA) finishes with sour grassy notes and slight alcohol warming. What comes to mind is a Session IPA IF a Session IPA every tasted good! this thing is could really be slammed. Odd duck but I really love it! (very hard to find out east here.)

180 Oskar Blues IPA United States IPA 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 6

Very acceptable and accessible IPA. Nice IPA nose, pine, mango, fresh cut flowers. Quite yellow in the body, clear with good continuing bubbles, topped by a bright white head with good retention and little lace. Mouth is a touch on the light side of medium a bit too watery, carbonation well done. Flavor is nicely bitter, malts are neutral, some pineapple slightly off putting aftertaste, a bit medicinal but OK.

181 De Proef By Udder Means Belgium Milk Stout 4.6

Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

Nose of black licorice, oatmeal, tootsie tool, and grapes. Black and opaque motor oil pour leaves a head that lasts forever and is creamy and caramel/ruby tinged. Fantastic lace, I hesitate to taste cause it looks so pretty! Mouth is creamy and full with perfect carbonation. Taste is simple, which may actually be hard to do. Licorice, milkshake, nice buttering finish, dry yet creamy in the end. Dark roasted malts. Balance? Hell yes, this thing could work the high wire for Cirque! Probably the best stout I have ever had, at least for those under 10 abv.

182 Mystic Saison United States Saison 3.5

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 7

I like Saisons and measure them agains Dupont. This one was not a winner for me (and I think its now labeled as Saison Renaud.) Typical saison nose and appearance. Mouth could be slicker fix is good. Not a fan of the flavor balance, too astringent/medicinal although all the typical farmhouse notes are there, I suspect its the yeast that is off-putting to me.

183 Rogue Farms Fresh Roast United States Brown Ale 3.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Black Cherries and rich roasty malts in the nose with some dank woody notes.Pours a very dark opaque brown without and ruby hints and topped with a modest head that is caramel colored and leaves no lace. The mouth is surprisingly thin and the carbonation is low but I kind of like it works. Taste is fairly mild but complex. The overall presentation is sweet malts with deep roasted grain. The finish has slight hop notes, tart apple and the aftertaste is slightly burnt toast. Although the alcohol is not high it is present at the end is is slightly warming.Very sessionable but missing some depth.

184 Victory Vital IPA United States IPA 2.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

Wow, after all the citra IPA's I have had lately its nice to smell some malt.Three is an odd grass note in the nose and some sour fruit, odd IPA nose. Another slightly hazed IPA, beginning to wonder if its my glass. Medium gold body is topped with moderate head and some lace. Mouth is fullish and the carbonation a bit underdone and yet fizzy in an unpleaseant way. They say the malts are German but this tastes English to me overall. The finish is sour and sort of dominates the experience. A bit complex with malts playing a small role. I don't hate this taste but its just not an IPA profile. That sour finish is also perhaps medicinal, wonder if I got a bad bottle.

185 Jack's Abby Beer Geek Helles United States Helles / Dortmunder 3.9

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9

Short-lived nose bready and grassy. Pours a light gold body that is slightly hazed with a smallish white head which leaves a thin skim coat and a hint of lace. Mouth is nicely thin with moderate carbonation and a bit slick. Haven't had a lot of helles but this one seems spot on. Some light malt flavor, a touch of lavender, some grass and little honey, a very nice mild sweet-tart at the back of the mouth mid swig, finish is a hint of honey but pretty clean. Very Very Drinkable! (the sum on this one is better than the parts)

186 Golden Road Wolf Among Weeds IPA United States Imperial IPA 3.9

Mild nose of honey, pine, and citrus. Very nice pale yellow body with great transparency is topped by a thin white head with a touch of lace. Mouth is medium to thin slick and a bit fizzy. Flavor is clean with alcohol quite well masked. Well balanced with a tart slightly bitter finish, not a lot of malt, surprisingly, some tangerine, some warming. Really pretty nice!

187 Southern Tier Imperial Gemini (2014+) United States Imperial IPA 4.0

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Big honking nose of pine and tropical fruit. A vigorous pour produces an OK head that has moderate retention and lace with a light copper body. Mouth is chewy and slick. A bit sweet with lots of bitter but avoids the Sweet Tart trap. Malt backbone is minimal. Alcohol fairly well masked but warming,

189 He'Brew Bittersweet Lennys R.I.P.A. United States Imperial IPA 4.0

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Nose of toasted malt, pine, and bubblegum. Pours a deep copper body with a caramel colored head with good retention and decent lace. Mouth is a bit thin but well carbonated and nicely slick. Lots of rye in the flavor profile. The hops are bittering, there is a sweet note half way through. Alcohol is present and warming. There is a funk to this flavor that I can't put my finger on but is related to the bublbegum nose, it hints at a Belgium farmy yard flavor. Not my cup of tea but well done.

Nice growler of fresh Stout. Mild nose of raisin chocolate and hints of pine. Deep brown body with moderate Carmel-colored head, fair retention and very little lace. Mouth is a bit thin and carbonation is on the low side. A fairly sweet Stout. Notes of chocolate and prune with an interesting Sourish finish. A bit of a nice flavor at the end. Very drinkable.

191 Broad Brook Brewing Hopstillo IPA United States IPA 4.4

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

Big ass citrus nose on this sucker! biscuit and jam undertones. Pours a lovely, though hazed, medium apricot colored body topped with a big rocky head that is white, lingers, and leaves fantastic lace, take away the haze and this would be a 10. Mouth is s touch chewy/creamy for an IPA but very nice and medium to full bodied with spot on carbonation. There are tropical hints in the flavor profile but it has some nice burnt malts backing it, the bitter hits at the finish after tropical fruit with a hint of pine. This is a damn good brew from my home state! The alcohol has a nice delayed warming.

Nose off tennis balls (usually a baed sign) with some flowery notes. Pours a hazy golden body with a good white head with good retention and minimal lace. Nice mouth, medium body, slightly creamy, good carbonation. Flavor is fairly neutral, well balanced, nothing jumping out. It is bitter, the grains are a bit raw, there is some fruit (apricot), the finish is REALLY clean, its very drinkable. RERATE: 12/12/2016 Nose is fine, lemon and pine.

193 Stone Stochasticity Project Grainiac United States Strong Ale 4.0

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8

Surprisingly floral nose with bread notes and slightly roasted grain. Strong nose. Pours a very dark copper body with a nice beige head with good retention and little lace. Mouth is a bit thin and very fizzy. Flavor....GRAIN! they ain't kidding!!! Burnt oatmeal, sweet dark fruit, licorice, some bright lemony hop notes, astringent bitter finish, alcohol well masked, aftertaste is sweet licorice. A big beer that is complex and well balanced. Kick top the appearance and mouth and this would be a real winner but great fun to drink regardless.

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8

Grapefruit and violet in the nose pours a medium orange that is clear with a nice white head that leaves decent lace. I really like them out on this it's quite full-bodied for an IPA a little bit creamy. Taste is very well-balanced some orange nice bitterness at the Finish with just a hint of honey in the mix. Extremely drinkable and very well done

195 Framing Hammer United States Baltic Porter 4.2

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Hints of coffee and chocolate and raisin in the nose. Pours an opaque deep deep brown body with a caramel-colored head that is decent and has nice retention and very nice lace. Mouth is creamy and full bodied with a nice slickness. Favor is on the sweet side with again, hints of chocolate and coffee and cotton candy but its nicely battered as well, very nice hop level at 45 IBU. Finish is surprisingly clean and balanced. 10% abv is well masked, the alcohol is just a bit warming. WELL DONE! Side Note; BeerPal forces porters to be listed as ales and then describes them as usually lagers, which this one is,,,,, whats up with that?

196 Troegs Perpetual IPA United States Imperial IPA 2.8

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

Tropical nose which is becoming a bit to prevalent in my opinion. Sweet malts there as well violet and candy. Pours a hazed medium amber body with minimal head and negligible lace. Mouth is a bit thin and perhaps under-carbonated. Flavor is astringent without being pleasant. Needs a better malt profile. Alcohol is the predominant flavor until the aftertaste which is medicinal and nasty.

197 Lagunitas Aunt Sally United States Wild Ale 3.8

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Let it be said, I don't quite know what to make of this. Nose is mild with hints of sweet tarts (are you old enough for that reference?), hint of pine and of pineapple. Pours a very clear pale yellow with a dead white head that is frothy and has good retention and very good lace. The mouth is clean but lite bodied, carbonation well done. Flavor is , well, odd. Initially (and shortly) the malt presents itself but it quickly goes to , what can I say, mild sweet tarts. Its quirky, its well done, its not complex, it finishes sour and then sweet. Its unusual and its balls for Lagunitas to mass market this and I kind of like it!

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9

Most ratings on this one are old. I believe the recipe has changed significantly. Its worth revisiting. Grassy Saaz in the nose with some biscuit notes and some wildflower.Pale straw body is super clear with dead white egg whites head that has very good retention, and leaves nice lace...Spot On! Mouth is medium to lite bodied with excellent carbonation. Classic Pils flavor profile with hay up front, a tinge of lemony citrus, a very dry clean finish that is just slightly bitter. This is a great American rendition of a classic European style....WELL DONE!

199 Victory Headwaters Pale Ale United States American Pale Ale 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7

Some floral notes in the nose, some vanilla, maybe some anise, and some cotton candy. Pours a slightly clouded pale (bit more pale than expected) copper body with a moderate but long lasting head and decent lace. Mouth on the thin side yet somehow a bit creamy. Tasting this after some imply IPA's is a mistake on my part but; flavor profile is mild mild did I say MILD? So maybe it'sOK for an AMERICAN Pale to be lacking in the malt backbone department but frankly, I think not. Finish is neutral, its like drinking one of those relatively new "session" IPA's but more balanced (the sessions tending to taste ore like hop water than beer.) That said its VERY drinkable, just wish it had more body to it.

200 Flying Dog Snake Dog IPA United States IPA 4.0

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8

Unusual nose of vanilla and pepper with some floral notes. Very cloudy pale orange body is topped with a white head that leaves a nice skim coat and very good lace.( I think its really pretty but for style is should be clear unless unfiltered which it does not claim to be.) Mouth is spot on, medium bodied, slick, perfect carbonation. This sucker is bitter, more bitter than the 60 IBU indicates. I am very impressed, the hops are more for bittering than for flavor. (and not familiar with Warrior and Columbus hops.) Starts a bit sweet on the tongue with tropical fruit and some grapefruit, nice solid malt backbone is neutral to slightly toasty, bitter hits in at the end and the finish is somewhat dry but with a nice fruitiness. Fairly unique IPA that is simple on a wonderful way. Intersting, the lower scores here are basically saying that there is nothing "special" about this IPA which is exactly what I like about it.
