...and do any of you collect them???...I have a pretty decent collection...My personal favs are the Orval chalice (which I don't have), the Kwak test tube and stand (which I also don't have), and the Chimay chalice (which I have)...You always can't get what you really want...My next big article for the site may be on Beer Glasses, the different types, and a heavy emphasis on Belgians...Stay Tuned in the coming weeks.... In Reply To #1 I've got a growing collection of glassware. Some highlights: Stroh's chalice I picked up at a flea market. Stone Imperial Russian Stout tulip/snifter. Rapscallion snifter (by far my most used glass). Leute Bok glass, it's rounded on the bottom and sits in a wooden cradel. Dogfish Head Raison D'etre glass. It's a very tall stemmed glass, the top is perfectly round, with the top portion cut off. It's one of my most unique glasses. A St. Bernardus glass, stemmed and looks like an oversized red wine glass. Ayinger and Magic Hat Blind Faith Willibechers. Humble Patience and Sam Smith Nonicks. La Chouffe "Magic Chouffe" and Corsendonk tulip. Gordon Biersh Scotch Ale glass (don't know what they're called?). Sierra Nevada .5 L wheat glass And probably 40-50 regular pint glasses. I have a couple other Chalices too, but I really don't like them. I prefer a tulip or my St. Bernardus glass for Belgian style ales. Chalices are neat looking, but I don't think they do a good job with aromas. Most chalices have walls that are too thick for me as well. I need a good bock beer glass, that's the only thing really missing from my collection. I'll have to pick up an Einbecker bock glass, or the Celebrator glass.
Yeap... I'm a sucker for those packages when beers and glassware are put together. I recently bought the Chouffe one (which I am trying at the present moment) and the Delirium one too. Last Christmas, I got the Unbroue one, composed of 7 different glasses. When people come over, I have many Keith's IPA glasses and also Carlberg Red (they have a promo when it came out). I love going to some of the pubs here and buying a glass, almost every time... usually $5 (canadian funds). Last one I got, for my pint glass, was St. Ambroise. It's like food, when the presentation is nice, it always tastes better.

In Reply To #1 My very fave is the Rapscallion chalice from the Concorde brewery in MA. Others are good, but thats my fave. I don't collect them as a hobby, but I own a lot of them.

I had a Stella Artois served in their personal chalice. It was a thing of beauty. So I would put my vote for that one so far. The beer wasnt bad either... KMB

In Reply To #17 Yeah, I had that one last summer served the same way. Of course we were sitting on a patio in the hot sun after work.... they could have served bud in one of those glasses and it would have been awesome.
Chopz....finally another guy who drinks Keith's! I can't get it around here (Boston area) but I used to love the stuff whenI lived in the Toronto area. As for glasses I usually rotate between a McEwan's, Guinnnes, Newkie, Harp combo...all of whiich were borrowed from the local pub. I would definately like a Stella glass. I just feel so damn classy when I'm drinking out of them. This message was edited by Crown Royals at 3/9/2005 12:09:53 PM.
In Reply To #19 Many of the beer stores in the US have a sampler pack of Chimay (1 blue, 1 red, 1 white)that includes a chalice. The prices I see vary from US$10.50 - $12. Pretty good deal if you can find it. In Reply To #17 Although I'm not a huge fan of Stella, my father-in-law has a 0.5l glass with an embossed Stella Logo on it. Very nice looking glass. If I keep complimenting it, maybe he'll get the hint one day and pass it on. :)
