Favorite "Cheap" Beer

General Beer Discussion by T-BONE

Quick... you are strapped for cash, but you're craving some good brew for the nite... what do you buy?

I think you guys are misreading the question. Instead of answering that you'd buy one or two good beers, I'd rather hear what "cheaper" beer you would get. Best beer for the money? Saranac Pale Ale is a great choice. Rolling Rock isn't all bad either - damn cheap.

In Reply To #7 In college, before I knew there were so many different styles of beer, I used to drink mostly rolling rock. I've only had a couple in the last few years, but I could probably drink plenty still if I had to.

So sad...but in College I actually liked Keystone Light. There was something about the way that the slightly more narrow can felt in my hand... Post-education I drink Coors Light for the economic advantage over better beers.

I have to agree with the Keystone Light in college. In a taste test with other similar quality beers, Keystone wins out for me. Presently, I enjoy many selections from Leinenkugel (owned by Miller). That's about as cheap as I can go.

On second thought, I think I'd just pop one of my own brews.

If our homebrew is unavailable, I have three other choices: Southpaw Light, Yuengling Lager, or Coors Light...in that order.

If I want a session beer it's gonna be J.W Dundees honey brown. If I want a quick rip. Zhiguly grand. $1.39 a pint and close to 10% ABV YOW!And it STILL tastes better than Crudweiser,MGD or most that massed produced crapola.

In Reply To #13 I don't mind Coors - might better than Michelob!

I gotta say, my beer of choice when I was a College bum was Natural Light. Can't get much cheaper than that!
