Chain Restaurants
Non-Beer Discussion by DREWSESLU
OK I'm bored at work again... And wondering what everyone's favorite chain retaurants are. Chipotle is the king, best chain food. Period. Even better than Popeye's. And what ones you can't stand. I absolutely can't tolerate McDonalds and I can't say I'm a fan of Houlihan's/Fridays/Applebees and the like. Orange Julius pisses me off, too. Krispy Kreme is way overrated, as well.

Nothing fast food that's for sure, but in a pinch, Wendy's or Arby's would be it...for real food though we like the following....
The Cheesecake Factory
Hooters
Smokey Bones
Joe's Crab Shack
Bahama Breeze
Pirmanti Brothers (oops sorry, that's a Pittsburgh thing...[:D])
Applebees
TGI Fridays
Anything not Italian
Mad Mex
Outback Steakhouse
Red Lobster
Hmmmm...The list is endless....

Someone mentioned Cheesecake factory... ahh yes, that's good. I also like Olive Garden.
Dreweslu, What is Chipotle? Is it fast food, or a sit-down restaurant? We don't have those down here. My favorite fast food hamburger is Krystal. Similar to White Castle up north. Mmm...greasy goodness. Love 'em. We have Johnny Carino's here--reasonably similar to Mac Grill. I usually have the Peroni with dinner. Can't abide Joe's Crab Shak. Dull food, and waaayy too much noise. Joe's and Red Lobster only make me want to jump in the car and road trip to the Gulf for REAL seafood.
I try not to eat at chain restaurants. I'm not trying to make any hippy-esque social statement, but to me, eating at a chain restaurant is akin to drinking macro beer that has been dumbed-down for the masses. I'd rather eat at a local restaurant whose owners (typically) take pride in their product. Sometimes I find gold, sometimes I get the shaft. Without waiving said objection, I like Hooters.

I enjoy Chili's and Olive Garden as well as Fresno's-all fun places to meet friends at. I recently made my first trip out west and had the pleasure of eating at a Chipotle....excellent! Regionally in the Syracuse are there is Heid's and Hoffamn's....both good hotdog places. I was delighted to see someone mention Krystal Burger. When I visit my brother and family in the Daytona beach area I always insist on a couple visits to Krystal....in fact when I was down there for Hurricane Charley we had gotten a huge bag of Krystals prior to the storm and we enjoyed them all night long while the wind howled and power went out.

Hooters because of the wonderful beer selection. What? Huh? Isn't Killians a top 5 beer? Taco Mac. Decent food and very good beer selection for a chain. 50+ including some Trappists (Orval, Rochefort.) Fast Food: Wendy's, Arby's, NOT Taco Smell, Popeye's (yee-haw @ spicy chicken) And I love the garlic mashed 'taters at Applebees.
Jack in the Box all the way. Dollar menu saves my life. On the other hand, I don't care much for the chains like Chilis, Red Lobster and Olive Garden. They are a waste of money in my book. There are much better places in town that I can get better food for less (and not wait an hour for a table at ****ING Olive Garden). I agree with the statement that they are like macro beer, the only difference being that these restaurant chains aren't cost efficient for reaching your goal (to satisfy hunger/get drunk).
