This beer was tasted with Tsing Tao and Kirin Ichiban (advertised as Japanese but infact American). They all scored a 6 across the board, but thats not to say they all tasted the same. These are on a similair standing as eachother, comparable to other international Lagers, but perhaps without quite the american melting pot that Stella and Carling experience when sold in North America. The Zhujjiang was the most bitter of the three, not to say it was really particularily sour or tart. It is more ust a light hop, "snap" at the end. Most commonly available in Chinese dives, and that is the food it is best enjoyed with. The beer is a bit watery, but refreshing, washs down then food expertly because the sweetness is not competing with the sauces. Not nearly as bloating as the food. Good

Comes in a green bottle with 5.3% ABV and best before date stamped on bottle: 24.04.2007 and produced date: 25.04.2006. Colour is golden with very tiny sediments floating around that are hard to see. The rest is sad. Small white fizzy head that disappears real quick and no trace of lace. No carbonation, very flat. Alcohol and corn aromas that are not pleasant. At least the taste is refreshing for hot summer days, with some light malt... but not worth buying again.

Plain old pale straw in colour, dump out caused a big white head that actually lasted a couple of minutes. This beer does not look like it's ill like most the others from this country. Smell doesn't aggrivate the nose, but does not excite it either - rice and grain - slightly sour. Virtualy no flavour, but what is there is quite drinkable albiet watered down and a little sweet and ricey. Empty mouthfeel, some light bitterness on the finish. One of the better Chineese beers I've had. I read that China has a huge push to create drinkable wine...maybe they can do the same for their beers.

Green Bottle (330mlx6) Was recommended to me to try as I am a lager drinker with meals.(Enjoyed this one with very spicey Chinese).Poured golden and clear with slight hop aroma,(fresh sample with 9 months to go).Very slight lacing but a somewaht sustained head.Standard lager but with a unique taste. Not a huge body compared to some other standard Euro lagers but held it's own.Was fresh and quenching (especially with the food) finished with lingering malt.In Asian restaurants would order this over a Canadian macro or Tsingtao.Very good price in Liquor Store and at this restaurant.

Canned as Zhujiang Beer, brought by a friend who visited China. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is rice and maize, with soemthing that reminds of an alcoholic sting! Flavour is rice and maize, with hayish hoppiness coming in. Well mixed, but I bet this would be more a beer you enjoy drinking in the sun when it's really hot outside...

This was a nice beer, one I'd not heard of before buying one for the collection. Looked okay for a lager, and had a nice, "snap" to the taste. Maybe a little better than Tsing Tao?
