Yukon Lead Dog Ale

I've tried this as both 'Yukon Lead Dog Ale' and 'Chilkoot Lead Dog Ale'. Either way it's not the world's greatest ale. The beer appears to be brownish red, with a thin creamy head. The flavour is very disappointing. A weak watery flavour, with some sweet fruity tones.

Dark, dark mahogany body pretty much black no light penetration when held up to one not even around the edges, thin cap produced during pour and was reduced to just a small ring around the edge after only a few seconds. Tons of chocolate in this aroma, smooth coffee and other such dark malts aromas, this reminds me of fresh baking, smells so very good (DROOL ). The taste is very mild but very dam good, its bitter but has a very sweet back ground but the sweetness never seems to break through to the front of the flavor. The only flavors I can describe here are very dark malts, bitter coffee and rounded off with only the slightest hint of berry. Mouth feel was very smooth it almost felt like I was drinking velvet but it seemed to be medium bodied, the after was intensely bitter that lingered for a long while. Very well crafted brew, dam tasty and great for just sitting back and slowly enjoying on a rainy night at home. Review done while watch The Gilmore Girls (not my choice to watch).

6 pack of standard brown bottles, picture of a nice looking husky on the label (as pictured above). Pour a deep, dark brown, with a foamy tan colored head that thins down to a floating cap of foam. Minimal lacing. NIce aroma of dark malt and dark fruits. Also some smell of brown sugar. Complex flavor, with roasted malt, prunes, and some sweet caramel. Just a slight touch of alcohol warmth. The flavor comes out even more as it starts to warm up a bit. Solid mouthfeel, creamy and full bodied. A great beer to enjoy during the cold weather.

Clear dark brown with a minor red hue, poured a nice tan head that, after sitting for 10 minutes, had left a nice hilly and smooth cap that had excellent retention. Constant effervecence. Had a good warm burnt aroma with mild coffee notes, a touch of chocolate and solid hops. Good balance. Good burnt smell! I could taste the alcohol, but this was not a deterrent. I like this! It's got lots of flavour with burnt coffee and possibly chocolate as well. I drank this at room temperature. Feels thick. Nice solid burnt and bitter aftertaste that remained after every sip. A lot better than I first thought.

totally surprised by this beer, probs to beercronic for giving me this... thought for sure it would be horrible, but not in the least. the pour on this beer is a dark dark copper (so dark almost can consider it black) with a tan head that vanished pretty quick, zero lacing, but the color and the tiny microscopic bubbles have me lookin hard into it anyways! the aroma is of roasted malts while the taste is buttery roasted malts and some subtle placed hops. mouthfeel is thin with a slight bitterness showing up in the aftertaste... overall this is a pretty damn good beer!!

Bottle: Poured a clear dark copper beer with a huge head with good retention. Aroma is quite malty with some noticeable roastiness. Taste is very interesting with some notes of roastiness coming in at first and ending with a balanced bitterness. No too complex beer overall, but a good example of the style.
