7.0% ABV, 38 IBU Style: Strong Cranberry Chocolate Porter Hops: Brewer‘s Gold Malts and Grains: Marris Otter Pale Malt, Superior Pale Ale Malt, Light Carastan, Munich Malt, Flaked Barley, Black Malt, Pale Chocolate Malt Other: Dark Brown Belgian Candi Sugar, Local Honey, Fresh Pressed Local Cranberry Juice, Cacao Nibs, British Ale yeast. This years Mummer's Brew is unctuous and rich. It is lightly hopped with Brewer's Gold which brings bitter, black currant , and spicy elements in balance with a significant malt presence and floral sweetness from the honey. It is only lightly carbonated to let the malt and fruit speak. Splash to build a head for a pretty presentation. It is extremely big. A little hot but only deceptively so. Dusty chocolate, burnt toasted and roasted notes are augmented by currant, smoke and floral elements. The light hand with the cranberry snaps the finish leaving a moreish finish. It should age well and develop nicely over the next couple of years in 50-55oF storage. This porter will throw a natural sediment over time. Complements rich hearty fare like beef, lamb or game meats. Matches well with virtually every strong cheese I have ever met. Oysters and shellfish are a delight with this one. As is a chocolate cheesecake or even, plain milk chocolate. You won't regret it. Best wishes for the season and please enjoy responsibly. Mind yourselves. Pax. Liam Bottles by Friday with a bit of luck. Cacao nibs provided by the Newfoundland Chocolate Company Honey from Murray Meadows Farm Cranberry Juice from Sedna Nutra
