A Wild Rose original, WRed Wheat Ale has been with us a long time. After a brief hiatus in 2003, our WRed Wheat made its triumphant "on-tap" return in 2006 with the opening of the Wild Rose Taproom. Eventually we came to our senses to bottle this fan favourite. What makes our WRed Wheat Ale distinctive? Perhaps it’s the combination of six types of malted wheat and barley. Or maybe it’s the variety of hop additions that delicately “spice” the brew? Regardless of the technical aspects, our WRed Wheat is uniquely Wild Rose. From the distinctive red-amber hues, to aromas of biscuits and a sweetness of caramel, this beer is not to be taken lightly. Wild Rose WRed Wheat is hand crafted, striking a fine balance between malt and hops. The final result is a beer that is crisp, clean and refreshing. Prominent beer writer, Stephen Beaumont describes our WRed Wheat as an … " . . . off dry quaffer that offers a tasteful blend of caramelly sweetness and woody dryness." Join us for a pint at the Taproom and see if you agree!

BORING SO VERY BORING!!!!! Reddish brown very small cap and reduced to nothing very quickly. Toasted malt a strange hop, all very weak. What the hell I can smell stinky shoe. Taste is better it be full and thick. Roasted malt, melba toast, toffee, mild nonflavoured hop bitterness, hints of coffee after taste is very sweet. Taste is getting empty the more I drink and I’m struggling to taste what I did in the beginning. The carbonation s stinging my lips. I guess this isn’t bad it just a horribly boring style. DOWN WITH AMERICAN WHEAT BEERS!!!

A bottle of this made it's way to me recently and sadly.......it was not a beer that I enjoyed. Very bland all round is probably the best I can say about it. A weak orange-gold pour with a thin white head that is trying to say 'get me into a good beer'. The aroma is wheat, and some citrusy hops. The taste is very grainy with a weak hop finish.

Pours a clear amber with a shimmering red highlight to it. 2 finger cap retreats quickly, poor lacing. Moderate carbonation. Aroma is 2 dimensional with caramel malts over grassy hops. Thin body, bit of wheat dryness and biscuity taste at the front, thin balanced center, lightly bitter watery finish. Needs more malt or some toasted grains to bring up the body and set off the profile. Really forgettable.

Bottle: Poured a clear light brown color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of wheat with some dry caramel malt is somewhat interesting. Taste is also a nice mix between some wheat malt with light cloves ester and some dry caramel malt. Very refreshing with good carbonation and average body.

I had to try another pint at the brewery while waiting to pick up my party pig. Beer is a clear, amber gold color with a decent sized head of white foam. There is good retention, with thin lace and a thin cap that lasted almost to the end. There some caramel malt smell with hops present. There is good flavor, with some grainy malt mixed with the wheat finish. Some grassy malt character also. Well carbonated keep it fresh and light. Tasted very good while sitting in the sun on a hot day.
