Don’t let the smooth appearance of this Class V IPA fool you. The hidden dangers are only found at the point of no return when the intense bitterness of this seemingly calm beer hits the back of your tongue. A light combination of malted barley, coupled with the citrus aroma of both Cascade and Centennial hops mean that Class V IPA is only for the experienced beer drinker.

Can. Colour - pale rust colour, slight cloudiness, and a weak off-white cap that laces well. Aroma - cereal malt, light pine, and light citrus. Mouthfeel - a bit on the thin side, but well carbonated. Flavour - sweet grains and light toffee notes up front with the hoppy citrus notes kicking in at the end. Good effort.

The beer pours a hazy copper colour, with a 1” creamy tan coloured head and plenty of effervescence. The aroma is caramel malt, citrus fruit, and pine. A throwback to the IPAs of a decade ago. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, and slightly above average carbonation. The flavour is very well balanced between the grains and caramel malt tones and the citrusy bitterness of the hops. I like this beer and wonder how good it would have been less than 7 months old. -

Pours a clear amber colour with a decent head that thins but lasts. Leaves lots of slick lacing. Mild citrus and pine aroma. Flavour of caramel malt, herbal, floral, grass and orange peel. All good stuff but lacks something. Very smooth mouthfeel.

Pours a slightly hazy amber colour with a nice light-beige creamy head that stays a while and leave fluffy lacing. Pretty yeasty with some caramel and other grainy malts, giving some bread notes. The hops are felt in the taste over the grainy malts that lingers. With time, lots of butterscotch in the nose. Mildly dry mouthfeel. A decent caramel IPA with average hops.

On tap at Arrow and Loon. Pours a small frothy white cap and has a clean amber appearance. Ok lacing. Aromas of sweet and cereal malts, earthy and resin hops. The hop favours are quite bitter in the finish, sort of has a rusty like taste on the palate, makes it seem sour at times. Mainly herbal and citrus hop flavours with some notes of spices. Not enough sweetness to balance things out, bitterness is pretty strong. Average retention, medium bodied mouthfeel. Not bad, but a bit of an odd finish/bitterness with one of the type of hops.
