Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 1pt. 0.9oz bottle into my big Spaten Oktoberfest Stange glass. There is no freshness date on the label but it has a bottle number of 3438 printed on the back. Appearance: The body has a dark brown color with lighter brownish red highlights. On top sits a nice light tan head which was about two fingers thick right after it was poured. This head slowly fades but hangs on till the last sip, (not that it took me long it get there lol). There was some nice slick lacing, as well, which slid right down the glass as I drank. Smell: The aroma is pleasing and sweet with notes of dark sweet bread, cooked or burnt sugar, as well as some mellow notes of over ripe fruit and classic German hops. Taste/Palate: It has a firm, slick, full bodied palate with a flavor profile that matches its aroma. The flavor is full dark sweet bready malty goodness. There are some hints of nuts and fruit mixed into the mostly sweet malt along with some decent leafy/spicy, almost earthy hops for balance. The hops also add a nice balance to the finish making it quite drinkable. Notes: This is a very enjoyable and drinkable big beer. Just look out for the solid 7.4% abv. that will sneak up on you.

Nose: raisins, creme brulee, clove and banana faintly present. Appearance: opaque deep brown body topped with a long-lasting beige head with nice lace. Mouth: Fizzy for sure, clean with medium body plays strongly on the back of the tongue. Flavor: Damn this is tasty! Light coffee and sweet cacao in the front. Esters and phenols are present but very minimal..... I love this balance. Creme brulee really coming out as it warms slightly. Alcohol very well masked but slightly warming in the middle of the taste. Very very long finish which starts slightly sweet but really ends clean. Could be my new favorite brew.

This is not your typical Weihenstephaner brew. It pours a very dark brown, solid in colour, with a creamy light brown head, not the foamy head of the other Weihenstephaner beers. Aroma is also more complex with chocolate tones, dark fruits, and caramel notes being the first onslaught on the senses. The flavour is well balanced between malty sweetness and hop bitterness, with neither the sweet or bitter being overpowering

Pours a very rich dark red color with no foam head. Aroma is of malt and maple smell. The mouthfeel is medium thick. And the taste is smooth with notes of fruit and honey. I will try this one again.

Pours a clear very dark amber with a 3 finger white head that goes away fairly quick. Big bubble carbonation. Aroma is fairly malty, grassy and noticeably metallic. A tidbit of booze on the nose as well. Body is thick and chewy. Nice roasted malt backing. Caramel and booze is present. Very easy drinking beer.

I enjoy most of their brews, this just seems to be about average or slightly better for the style. Texture and mouthfeel is the best part to me. Medium to slightly dark brown appearance. Flavor is mostly caramel malt, with some other sweet stuff and spice. A little too sweet, or needs some more hops to balance...but that is the style. Kind of like a heavier Oktoberfest. I prefer their Dunkelweisen instead.

Poures dark brown mahogany color with ruby hues with a large off white head, which stays for 2-5 minutes and then becomes a thin creamy layer. Excellent lacing that stays for a long time. The aroma is magic. It's complex with dominant malt, caramel, coffee and chocolate flavor. Slight presence of wheat. Rich warmth in the nose. Bready smell due to malt heaviness. A lot of sweetness in aroma. The taste is a little subdued as compared to the aroma. Sweetness is in good enough amount. Rich and a lot of malt. Lot of warmth. Some nut presence. More caramel like taste. Some coffee presence as an after taste. Slight hop presence towards the end. Nothing is overpowering. Well balanced. The mouthfeel is medium bodied feel. Very smooth and soothing even with over 7%. Low on carbonation.

Dark redish brown, clear, with huge beige foam head. Lacing to glass. Aroma is dark chocolate barley, malty with traces of toffee. Taste is not sweet, but also not too bitter. Coffee, toffee, but again not sweet at all. Short dry aftertaste, a decent beer. (Velp 201211

Another stellar beer and Wish List beer from slowrunner, from one of my favorite breweries. Slightly murky and fairly dark brown pour, tall tight off-white head, massive lacing throughout. Malty and honey-sweet aroma with some caramel, breadiness, roasted malts, raisins, then a welcome earthy hops nose. Smooth and flavorful for such a big beer, lightly sweet and toasted maltiness, toast-like breadiness, raisins and ripe fruits, hops to break up the sweet party. Very nice brew from the German Masters - loved it. Thank you Chris - thoroughly enjoy this one.

Grassy, corny, malt with alcohol smell, pretty not amazing. Clear, deep brown amberish color with a fizzy head. mouthfeel was great, smooth and full bodied. A solid doppelbock from a taste standpoint, good malt and lager characteristics, very true to style.

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.4%. Mahogany coloured beer, huge and lasting beige head. Lovely aroma of medium dark malts, bakery (esp. fresh brown bread) and caramel, hints of oak and dark dried fruits. Rich mouthfeel. Distinctly malty and rich flavour, sweet but not too much. Caramel and brown bread baked with syrup, dark dried fruits, moderate hops. Well balanced and truly enjoyable.
