Bavarian-style strong dark wheat ale (Weizenbock) brewed with a portion beechwood-smoked malt. Alpentraum is a rich and sophisticated cocktail of flavors. Our brewmaster dreams of Germany sometimes.

This is such a solid beer, really remarkable. Darker amber colored with a great smoke nose and a medium full mouthfeel. The flavor is all the right balance of smoke, malt sweetness and hops. By the end of the glass I was deffinitely looking for another one.

What can I say about this beer. OTher then it was shared in the company of dozens of friends. Incredible brew. Taste is so balanced, it's hard to talk about. From the tanks of the Vintage to the taps of Pfoxyjohn's barrrn. Oktoberpfist was a joyous celebration never to be forgotten. Thanks Lou and John!

On tap @ OktoberPfist 2010. Hazy brown tea pour with a tight creamy head and ample lacing throughout. Complex aromas of fruits - especially some banana and apples - very slight smokiness from the smoked beechwood, and some slight anise. Big flavorful beer with the fruitiness and slightly yeastiness coming through up front and a good bite on the back end. Extremely nice choice and change of pace from all those Oktoberfest biers. Awesome choice, John. Big kudos.

Not exactly a particulary pretty beer - pours a murky dark amber with a slight head. Aroma of fruit and light smoke, almost a faint licorice smell. But what a delight to drink! A crisp and alive mouthfeel and a complex blend of flavors. Lemon-sharpness, Smoky-richness, Wheat-lightness, Hop-crispness, light Malty-sweetness. A long melodic finish with a surprisingly sharp edge. More smoke and a hint of clove as it warms. Ausgezeichnet! My favorite Vintage to date. MUSIC: “Way Out” – Yeah Yeah Yeahs
