Malt Beverage Aged In Wine Barrels. Since his birth in 1997, our beloved Golden Monkey has remained playfully delightful and profoundly satisfying. His soul continues to glow with the wisdom of ages and inspired our own stroke of genius. Restless from his continuous journey to joy, we felt that some quiet time in American oak barrels that once matured white wine would further soothe this ale’s silken soul. After his three-month retreat, Golden Monkey emerged refreshed and invigorated with new character and flavor nuances that only make him more profound, and possibly even more playful.

Pours clear topaz with a thick and frothy, if not lasting, cream head. Aroma presents fresh malt, sweet apple, white wine, and hints of wood and butterscotch. Flavor delivers sweet wine, fresh malt, fruity, and shy woody tones, almost more wine than beer, tasty and enjoyable regardless. Mouthfeel features smooth, if not robust, body and OK fizz, along with a woody and wine finish. Monkey around - but please do so responsibly.

Orange sunshine colored beer with a big frothy textured white head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. It settles into light dusting of film, thick ringlet and persistent cap. Vinous nose. More intense vinous tasting with some peppery spicing. High octane, dry bodied beer.

Via ggrumet. Pretty obvious barrel influence for only being 3 months in the wood, acording to the label. Grapes and oak come through, but as well as the fruitiness and yeastiness from the base beer. Still pretty gassy, yet smooth and covers up the abv well. Not sure if it's worth a hike in price from the non-barreled version, but it was definitely nice to try.

750 ml bottle. Pours clear golden orange with a medium white head that quickly goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is bready malts with some banana and grapes, pepper, minty flowers, yeast and fusel alcohol.
The flavor is sweet bready malts with some banana and grapes and quite a bit of peppery alcohol in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low smooth carbonation.
Overall, an OK tripel. I don't notice much from the barrel - maybe a little more fruitiness. -

750ml cork and caged poured into a tulip - crystal clear orange/yellow with a short burst of carbonation. Surprisingly little on the nose, hints of horseblanket and bubblegum. Extremely drinakble with a pleasant, crisp and clean mouthfeel. Flavors of lemon, faint peppery spice, and a really nice play of subtle wood that rounds out the base beer nicely. Finishes dry. There is extreme drinkability and is a treat to drink. This is nothing earth shattering but very well made.
