Menacingly delicious, with the powerful, aromatic punch of whole flower American hips backed up by rich, German malts. HopDevil Ale offers a roller coaster ride of flavor, coasting to a smooth finish that satisfies fully.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.7%. Clear deep golden to amber to orange colour, moderate white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma, but not overwhelming. Hints of orange marmalade. The flavour is surprisingly well balanced and harmonious for something called "HopDevil" - hoppy of course, but no devil is at loose here, rather a benevolent HopAngel. Me like!

Lots of malt in the nose with citrus hop notes. Medium copper body is topped by fair white head with little lacing. Mouth is almost spot on, medium bodied, slightly still, a bit slick. Flavor is fairly complex, malt hits first followed by a pretty good bitter bite; grapefruit/blood orange and a bit more sweetness then usual for an IPA, very drinkable. Perhaps more similar to an APA then an IPA due to excellent balance. Good brew!

Orange-amber color with a thick fluffy white head and lacing for days. Aroma is light caramel malts, a pleasant and robust hoppiness - piney-resin and citrus. Smooth on the pallette. Armoa transitions to flavor. Bold without being too over the top.

Aroma is strong and more hoppy than malty. Pours a very beautiful clear golden-brown with a thick and persistent head. Flavor is very hoppy but with only a little bitterness and a whisper of sweetness, perhaps a caramel hint. Smooth and satisfying, this is definitely a hop lover’s ale.

Amber colored with slightly light brown/beige colored foam head. One can clearly smell sweet hops. Taste bitter hops with aftertaste turning sweeter over time in mouth. (Houston 201205)

Pours a real clear copper/amber with a small puffy white head. No real visible carbonation. Spotting of lacing. The aroma is citrusy grapefruit hops up front with some mild malt in the background. The taste is not as overly hoppy as the aroma would lead you to believe. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. With all the hops it isn't overly sticky on the palate.

Had side by side with hop wallop and maybe not a fair fight. Still, this is a fine beer in its own right. A great representation of the style, available all year long and a solid beer. I would rather have the wallop but I wouldn't turn this down.

It pours a burnt-orange and amber with a thick light-orange/white head and copious lacing. A rich aroma of caramel malts, hops, light pine, grapefruit and oranges, bitterness, and light spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, thick, and rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, orange and grapefruit, bitterness, and spiciness. Excellent!

Smells like stinky feet. Pours burnt amber with a light head. A very attractive beer. Looks like bourbon. Taste is like sharp cheese and grain. Malty finish. Good beer, but I don't have a clue how to classify it.

I wrote this for my review of Victory Hop Wallop. A very hoppy bite, reminiscent of a Stone IPA. Strong aroma leads to strong mouthfeel. There is a BEER here, folks. Wonderful bitter flavor that makes you want to hold it before swallowing. If it is a little bitter for you, try the Victory Hop Devil which has most of the attributes of the Wallop, but a more temperate flavor. Neither is a home run, but both are easy triples.
