Part of mixed 12 pack. Pours an average size foamy tan head that dissipates to a small coating and leaves some big bubbly lace behind. Has a deep dark brown coloured appearance. Slightly excessive carbonation. Aromas of very light roasted malt and a bit toasty as well, mild yeast and caramel. Flavours are mostly barley and toasted malts, spices, lots of caramel and sweet malt, some Belgian yeast, a bit wheaty and herbal as well. Subtle bitterness on the palate but much more in the way of sweetness in this one. Full bodied. Slight drying mouthfeel. Pretty good overall with the high abv not being too overwhelming unless followed up by a few more. 😛

Bottle. Colour – solid dark brown, light brown foamy head, decent lacing. Aroma – roasted malt, figs, molasses, licorice. Mouthfeel – medium to full bodied, high carbonation. Flavour – dark fruit, nuts, yeast, and a bitter finish. Possibly some chocolate in the taste as well.

A big thanks to my Uncle Henry for splitting this bad boy on Christmas. Was a 4-way split. Great beer. Big and boozy, warming. Tasted like plum pudding and alcohol. Some notes of bananas. Very nice.

Pours reddish-cola brown color with a slight tan head. The aroma was rippened fruit, molasses and roasted malt. Full-bodied with moderate carbonation. The flavor matches the aroma. Alcohol completely masked. Nice.

Pours a cloudy cola color with a one finger head that goes away very fast. Carbonation is present. Aroma is sour with some earthy notes. Spices are present as well. Tastes is a complex combination of a Belgian strong ale and a wild/sour ale. Dry at the back and slightly sour to the tongue. Alcohol is in the taste so it is a sipper. Very nice beer.

Pours a cola colour with a dense tan head. Retains well but doesn’t leave much lacing. Dark fruit and yeasty aroma. A little sweet but still an excellent flavour. Dark malt, prune, raisin, all that dark fruit stuff that I wouldn’t eat but love in beer. Hint of banana and spicy. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Alcohol warmth comes through but is still very drinkable for such high abv. Will defiantly buy this beer again.

WOW! Canada seems to never fail. This was the most fruity trappsit ive ever drank. The finish was so fruity and yet so appealing. The dark tones gave way to the most tasty and clean side note ever. I was tripped out that this one so well done yet the title of this brew does NO justice. It went very well with THANKSGIVING DAY lunch. Thank the gods for beers!!

    750ml bottle

I shared a bottle of this with fellow BeerPal Sassy. The beer poured a coca-cola brown colour with a thin tan creamy head into the Unibroue tulip. The aroma was dark fruit, molasses, roasted malt, and sugar. The mouthfeel was full bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was blackberries, molasses, some applish and anise notes. Alcohol was completely hidden. A great beer.

Unibroue has a solid line of year-round ales, and this one fits right in. It has similar flavor elements of Blanche De Chambly, La Fin Du Monde, and Trois Pistoles. Their trademark yeasty, bready flavor is in this. A solid drink, but it's no better than their regular fare. Recommended, but it's pricier than their normal lineup. I go for La Fin Du Monde over this every time, but this is a great drink, nonetheless! It just sits on the shelves at my local stores, I'll let it age there, and pick it up when it goes on sale, which actually does happen with these great ales. Unibroue on sale, life is good!

Looks great to start with, deep and dark, very clear and fizzing head. Smells a bit like wine, sour fruits and sweetness. Flavor is cherries and some alcohol. Not as dynamic as I was hoping but it was only ten bucks so not bad for the price.
