India Pale Ale (IPA) is a style of ale noted for its high hop and alcohol content. The beer received its name in the 19th century when England controlled the country of India. In those days, there was no refrigeration or pasteurization so the British had to brew a beer that would survive the long, hot trip to India and satisfy the thirsty troops stationed there. It turns out that the hop flower and alcohol are natural preservatives, so the Brits brewed an ale with an abundant amount of both, and it worked. Hundreds of years later, the style is still the favorite of many a craft brew drinker. Uinta's version is somewhat bitter, but not as dry and strong as a traditional IPA. The beer is dry hopped with a generous amount of Centennial hops that give it a nice floral finish and a citrusy assertiveness without jeopardizing its malt flavor.

This is my first product from these guys. The aroma is somewhat hoppy with some slight bitter with some grapefruit coming through with maybe some citrus. The appearance is somewhat light-brown to maybe orange to copper color with a decent head on top that is thin and bubbly and off-white in color. The mouthfeel is light-bodied and crisp with nice hoppy complexity with pretty good balance with a pallet that is not too bad. The flavor is pretty bitter with nice hoppiness with maybe some grapefruit and citrus overtones and is crisp and refreshing with an aftertaste that is also bitter but maybe a bit watery with a finish that is crisp and slightly dry and not too bad. Overall, this is not a bad IPA and is pretty bitter and hoppy with overtones of grapefruit but seems to be lacking a bit on the hops. Nonetheless, this is a decent session brew with good drinkability.

12 oz bottle, bottled on 4/14/08. Pours a clear golden orange with a large fluffy white head that retains well and laces the glass a little.
The aroma is peppery, grassy hops with a little mint.
The flavor is some corny malts and vegetables with a decent slightly minty bitterness. The mouthfeel is light bodied and watery.
Overall, an OK IPA. -

Medium gold color. A medium bodied IPA. Malty and aggressively hopped. Good balance, nice flavor. Hoppy without being too bitter. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

3.2% draft @ brewery. Fresh light hoppy nose. Golden color with small pale head. Decent lacing throughout. Nice light bitter finish.
