No nose, yes no nose! Vigorous pour produces very little head with near zero retention. True deep ruby body, off-white skim coat.Mouth is medium to light, a bit under-carbonated. Flavor is NOT bold, subtle ripe fruit, roasted grains, toffee, coffee, maybe some banana. Sweet cotton candy finish. I wonder if this is a bad bottle, the carbonation is just soooo off. The flavor profile is OK to good, the alcohol ois properly masked for the style.

My first Troegs experience, and a satisfying brew with old world trappist like quality's, made right here in the U.S.; very light cap, some laceing, smooth, fuity, carmelly, good aftertaste. Will drink again if available.

Holy mackerel this is a fine beer for being a doublebock that is not pitch black. It smelled like a cherry Pop Tart. It has a very thick mouthfeel. It pours without a head and just a touch of zing on the back of the tongue.

When you come from Wisconsin you expect a lot from a German style beer. This looked and smelled the part but missed the mark on flavor and mouthfeel. Really not enough of a bock at all IMO,its a bigger beer, just not true to style.

An enojoyable brew from Troeg's. The deep coloring, almost maroon, was very unique and beautiful to look at. The aroma had a slight hint of chocolate. This went down very smoothly with a hint of a sweet aftertaste. I found it very refreshing and fun.....it went well with the brisket sandwich that I had.

I really enjoy this beer but I rarely pick it up anymore, I need to change that some time. A medium brown pour, with red edges and a light tan coloured cap. Lots of sweet and dark malts in the aroma and some light fruits. Flavour is well balanced between the malty sweetness and the bitter balancers.

Off the tap at Troegs... and so good I got a couple of bombers to go - reminds me of some really good beer I've had in Germany. Draws dark brown with a sweet aroma, but not overly so. Malts dominate, but in a nice proportion. Bread and yeast in the aroma. Rich and full-bodied. Caramel in the flavor with the bread-yeast. The best I had off the tap at Troegs.

12 oz. bottle. Poured a clear mahogany colored beer with a two fingers beige creamy foamy head that had a very long retention. Active carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is toasted caramel malts, dark ripe fruits, plums, nuts. The flavour is sweet caramel malts, toffee, herbal hops, dark ripe fruits, cherries, plums, prunes, spicy, licorice, peppery, cinnamom. Well-balanced. The mouthfeel is creamy and very smooth. This full bodied beer has a lingering spicy finish. Very nice.

Pours a clear, dark coppery-red with a fairly thick but not persistent off-white head. Aroma is malty and subtly yeasty but not strong - inviting nonetheless. Flavor is better than the aroma suggested - strong, malty, mouth-filling with hints of hops and caramel. Texture is fairly smooth and just a little tingly, leaving a slightly bitter aftertaste.
