This is our strongest, darkest and most heavy regular offering. It is virtually black in color and features rich roasted malt flavor with a delicate caramel and vanilla finish. It is carbonated and served with the use of nitrogen gas, giving the Black Water a beautiful cascading pour and thick, creamy foam atop your glass. Made with only the freshest American malts and English hops.

Growler time. Pours a pitch black with a one finger chocolate colored head that goes down fairly quick. Aroma is roasts galore. Hints of chocolatey dryness. Taste is full bodied with hints of heavy roasts, coffee and a smidgen of chocolate. A tad watered down and dry. Has a hint of foreign/extra to it. Fairly good beer.

Had this on tap first at Town Hall Brewery this past weekend. Pitch black, not much of a head. Little froth but otherwise nada. Lacing yes. Thick as motor oil. Gentle. Burnt toast aroma, chocolate, earth on the nose. Taste is sweet, filling and chocolatey.

July 2010 - Typical effort. Lots of roasted flavors, not much oatmeal noticeable. Slightly astringent and thin. Not really great. Oh, and it was overly carbonated, too.

There is a reason this beer is their top award-winner. I have been with many people as they have their first sip of it, and they almost invariably have a look of pleasant shock. Even those who "don't like dark beer" often exclaim how good this is, creamy and sweet but not sticky. It's an excellent example of an oatmeal stout, but Guinness lovers enjoy it too!
