Throughout Northern Europe, light bodied well-hopped, low alcohol beers were often the beverage of choice with all meats at times and in places where the water was'nt always safe to drink. Thiriez La Petit Princesse is the Northern France version, brewed in Esquelbecq, in cooperation with Jester King Craft Brewing, Austin, Texas, of J.K. Le Petit Prince. It is a dry, unspiced, highly attenuated Table Beer. Naturally ocuring wild yeasts impart a sense of place to this unfiltered, unpasteurized, 1OO % naturally conditioned ale.

750 capped bottle, bought at the brewery. Poured in the original Esquelbecq stemmed tulip glass an unfiltered and opaque pale amber coloured Saison with a one finger slight beige and soapy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Active carbonation. Good lacing. Some small floating sediments. The aroma is earthy and aromatic hops, fruity, citrus, oranges and herbal notes, mint leaves. The flavour is yeasty, pronounced earthy and aromatic hops, herbs, mint leaves, fruity, oranges and a touch of woods. The mouthfeel is crispy, sparkling, clean and hoppy bitter. The texture is oily. This light bodied Saison has a long hoppy bitter finish. A brilliant demonstration by Daniel Thiriez. You don't need an absolute high alcoholic level to be successful in brewing. This Saison, with a low alcoholic level, is really convincing. I enjoyed it. Good job, Daniel !
