Brewed with 17 lbs. of yams per barrel (in other words, a lot of yams!), this autumn seasonal is a different take on the “pumpkin” beer style. Brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla, molasses, and maple syrup, and fermented with our traditional Belgian yeast strain, this bold and spicy beer is perfect on a cold autumn evening. ABV: 10%, IBU: 25, SRM: 15, Release: Fall

Pours out a deep cloudy copper color . The aroma is of alcohol and spices. The mouthfeel has a slight sweet sting. The taste is a cross between a Barley-wine and a Belgium style ale. I can taste the maple & spices. What surprising is the taste of the jams.

    5oz taster -

On tap at 10 East. The beer has the look like something from a rusty rain gutter, orangish-brown, cloudy with a off-beige head. Aroma of pumpkin spice, maple and sweetness abounds. I definitely get the yam profile in the flavor, with some earthy sweetness, burnt sugar, clover honey and sugar cookies. Finish is medium and the body has a surprising lightness to it. Sweet, but not cloying. Very nice indeed.

Murky brown bottle pour bursting with lots of carbonation and a tan/white head that laces beautifully. Belgian aromas dominate with subtle hints of sweetness. This suffers a tad from having too many flavors and finishing too dry. Funky undertones give way to molasses, vanilla, caramel, and a slight bit of pumpkin/yam. The dry finish makes me thirsty. Decent brew.

Strong aroma has malty, pumpkin and spicy notes. Pours a clear dark amber with a thick, buttery-tan head. Flavor has firm malty, earthy and pumpkin notes with hints of cinnamon and maple syrup. Texture has good body and a fair amount of fizz. Definitely worth seeking for autumn!

I found this to be a nice beer overall, but too much going on. Very pumpkin like, yams prevalent all throughout the beer. Dark reddish brown. Nice off white head. Sweet bready, maple syrup notes, yams and cinnamon. Good brew, but too much for me.

Pours a bright orange with a soft tan head. Aroma is a smidge earthy stinky. Mouthfeel is sticky sweet. Flavor of molasses, pumpkin, spice. All around good, albeit a bit too sweet for me.

I like the flavors in this one, but is a tad too sweet. Kind of like a winter-warmer. Liquid sweet potatoe-pie. Medium brown hazy appearance. Good for sharing, but not worth the price. Been wanting to get the Turtle Dove after sampling a glass. That one seemed better, so will try that next. This "bruery" has some intersting beers though.

The color of this one perked my interest. An occluded orange colored beer with a big frothy textured, reddish-tan head. Some hang time. Some lacing in a film that sticks to the sides as I tip the glass. Molassess is definitely in a light nose. Very spicy in tasting, cloves and ginger dominate. The molasses is there on the tongue as well .

A nice dark brown beer that smells sweet right out of the bottle. Very little head. Sweet malt, maple, and yams are apparent in the odour. The flavour is a tad sweet...malty, maple, with a slight bitter finish.

Oct. 2009 - Dark brown pour, little to no head. It smells...um...like candied yams, believe it or not. It’s sweet...really sweet...but a nice spicy finish that makes it quite palatable. It’s better than a pumpkin ale, I’ll give it that. Still not really my thing...but definitely worth a try for it’s uniqueness. I sorta liked it, for what it was.
