5 Golden Rings is the 5th verse in our '12 Days of Christmas' winter seasonal ale series. This is the only golden ale in the bunch but it definitely packs a holiday punch. We spiced up this 11.5% ABV ode to Winter with cinnamon, allspice and ginger along with some delicious sweet and tangy pineapple. The resulting ale is a true holiday treat that can be enjoyed fresh or cellared until 2019, when 12 Drummers Drumming will be released.

This is solid brew. Not the biggest fan of pineapple, so was concerned about how this would work. The sweetness is there for sure, but not overwhelming. Aged for about a year, but didn't want to go too long because of the fruit juice. This is something that I wanted to share, but actually used about 3-4 ounces as an ingredient in a BBQ sauce, then drank the rest solo! :)

Gold coloring with stong aroma on opening. Spent the immediate moments getting acquainted with the pineapple notes in the nose and opening - something I hadn't seen in a brew before. Sticky mouthfeel and towards the end of the bottle the sweetness did seem to be a bit much - otherwise this could have become a regular habit for me. Alcohol presence is there and helped to cut the sweetness a bit. Nice hop presence as well. 2nd beer I have had from these guys and will definitely try out a third.

Bruery has been on and off with me, 5 Golden Rings really impressed me. Banana, apple, mango and pineapple from beginning to end. A great medley of fruits to mix with the big Belgian influence. Golden body with a large frothy head. Bubble gum and a dash of spices. Moderate twang in a medium to full bodied brew. Really good.

Beer no. 5 of my 12 Beer of Christmas, on the 5th Day of Christmas of course. Orangey gold pour, medium white head, nice lacing. Good carbonation. Belgian yeast and fruity aroma, hint of the allspice and ginger, big on the pineapple, honeysuckle and floral hops. Taste is straight up Belgian at first, then the pineapple and light spices kick in, sweet and pleasantly fruity, nice and big. Better than expected.

Strong, yeasty aroma has fruity and malty undertones and hints of ginger and - allspice? Coriander? Pours a pretty clear golden amber with a fairly thick, if not too persistent, pale cream head. Flavor is quite sweet, but not cloying, notes of banana, honey, yeast, malt and coriander - and an alcohol bite that will get your attention! Texture is thick and firm, almost syrupy, with a subtle but persistent tingle, leaving a fruity, edgy, honey-sweet finish. Merry Christmas, Joyful Kwanzaa, Festive Festivus, Happy Saturnalia, and of course, Happy New Year!

Probably my least favorite so far (of the 4 I've had) but they're all close. This will have better potential for aging than I thought before trying it. 3 & 4 have actually improved with age! The combo of pineapple and spicy/bubble-gummy belgian yeast is pleasant for sure, but a little too in your face to be as enjoyed as the last few Bruery holiday releases. Reminiscent of a stronger Mana Wheat. This'll be interesting in 2013/2014.
