The first in an experimental batch of smoked ales. We took the idea of a traditional german rauchbier and merged it with some american/english infulences. From there we decided to push one step further and add one of our house sour yeasts to the ale. The beer has a nice medium sour on the the nose that transitions into a smokey yet slightly sweet malt finish.

I like smoked beers. I like sours. I'm intrigued by the combo. That said, either this combo doesn't work, or just didn't work (for me) with this beer. The aroma is interesting to say the least, but you don't exactly keep your nose in the glass. It's more of a "what the...?" reaction. Flavor is a little tamer but the combo of campfire and lemony sour is just a little too much. Trying to hard to be unique on this one.
