Boom ShakaLager is the next installment in Terrapin’s “Side Project” series of beers. This Imperial Lager is made exclusively with German malts, German hops and a true Bavarian lager yeast strain. While 99% of the beers brewed at Terrapin are ales, we figured we should show some love to the lager style as well. Not that this off-beat, big beer is going to be brewed to a traditional style or anything.

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7
Aroma is fairly strong and rather fruity, almost more like a cider than a beer, with an undertone of malt and a touch of sweetness. It pours an appetizing clear coppery amber with a fairly thick cream-white head that leaves some decent lacing. Flavor is malty with fruity and hoppy undertones and a fair amount of bitterness, as well as a whisper of honey-like sweetness. Texture is smooth as soymilk and leaves just a little bit of a tingle. Not Terrapin's best, but worthy of at least a try.
