Pours a amber/brown with a one finger head that goes down fairly quick. Decent amount of carbonation in the glass. Aroma is pretty sour with slight hints of spices and yeast. Taste is actually pretty light and has somewhat of a pucker to it. Hints of fruit and a slight metallic aftertaste. Overall not bad but not worth the price.

Aroma of old spiced fruit, and alcohol notes. A deep reddish- brown body with no cap or lace. Flavor is of alcohol, bread, spiced fruit, with a dry mouthfeel. Overall its a passable dubbel, but nothing to run out and seek.

Aroma was minty, with lavender and leather. A short lived head... light/med body and fizzy mouthfeel... Caramel/toffee mostly malty sweetness. Very CRISP and wet... Tastes of licorice, cola, antiques... But really not much interesting at all, its just not working out

Sterkins dubbel Ale: S5L3F1T4O10 Big chunks in my glass from the stuff on the bottom of the bottle. Look, I like yeasty sediment but these are actual chunks if dried looking dark dirt. Has a fairly good aroma, sweetish trappest perhaps. Ice tea color with no head. Creamy carbonation but it’s barely there. Starts off interestingly dubblish rubbish but in a good way. , It is a modest alky and all, then this nifty lemon or lime appears for a nano-second followed by perhaps some old partially dry fruit flavors. Finally it finishes with rather flat old country mouthfeel. Not much hop bitterness in this brew, if any. If this is a trappist, can’t hold a candle to Orval.

Here’s a good example of the complexities of the Abbey Ales. Sweet, yeasty, sour, dry, bubbly all in one bottle of brew. This one is a hazy reddish-brown beer holding up a robust tannish head that settles into a thin film. The aroma is rich in bread, yeast, dark fruit like raisins and dates. Particulate rise with the carbonation.

Just another Belgian ale I found at a local packy here in Atlanta. Aroma on this brew is malty as well as sweet with hints of ripened fruit like plum with some figs as well as brown sugar with maybe some alcoholic overtones and spice. Appearance is a ruby, flat-brown in color with a small head on top that is very bubbly and carbonated but dissipates very quickly to a light-tan lacing that adheres to the glass to some extent. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and actually more complex than I predicted with malty and pruney balance with a palate that is wet and well-rounded. Flavor is essentially malt based with some sweet ripened fruits perpetuating with some nice, musty brown sugar with an aftertaste that is malty and of raisins and sweetness with a finish that clean, crisp, full, and very well-made and reminds me of British quality even though this is Flemish. Overall, not a bad brew and a decent Dubbel but seems reminiscent of British-style as well as Belgian; all-in-all, good brew here for sure...

Beer pours regular brown, little head and lacing. Weird aroma of musty fruits. Flavor would have been earthy, fruity and actually not too bad, but a nasty buttery flavor took over the beer and drowned out anything good and noble. Oh well.

Interesting dubbel, not sure how old it is but it popped up as a single at the local World Market so If I had to guess I'd say it has been around the block a few times. Rich sweet aroma grainy and slightly sour. Light brown pour, decent head and nice lacing. Solid on the palate, easy finish. Flavor is sugary and warm with a nice malt content. Fresh baked breads and dark fruits are reminiscent. Not too bad

This is a good beer, afew friends liked it, phil and scoobs, so its enjoyable to the mass market...no head at all though, some vinious aspects, bitter sweet taste, reminds me of some of the belgians i had at the forum, like real yeasty too. not bad, especially for the price! duubel to it!

The look of the beer isn't the best with floaters and haze. However, I can't beleive the harsh reviews. This is a very affordable Belgian dubbel! I think you either love them or don't go for them. If you like dubbels don't let the negative reviews discourage you.
