A brewery that comes with a great reputation and it should be no surprise that this was a great beer. A dark brown beer, the cap is creamy, brown, and lasts a while. The dominant aromatic is yeast, but there are also hints of dark fruit, plenty of seasonal spices, and molasses. The beer starts out sweet with the fruit and molasses notes, but the finish is mildly bitter. There are notes of yeast. An excellent beer.

Very dark brown hazy pour. Excellent head which leaves good lacing.Taste is rich, caramel malts, dark fruitiness, slightly sour and a bit of spiciness. Medium body but very smooth. Can smell something through my blocked passages so aroma must be good. Note to self.Buy again.

The finest beer from my recent trade. A very red pour with brown edges and a decent sized cap. Nice complex aroma with hints of roast, sugar, yeast, dark fruits, and liquorice. Flavour is very similar. Alcohol is extremely well hidden.

Working on my 8th one of these from a stash I put in when it was available. Have had opportunity to taste this as a standalone drink and with a variety of foods. 500ml crown capped bottle filled 2 months ago. Pours a cloudy rusty brown color. Has a meringue like 2 finger cap that will suspend a dime. Aroma is demure with cocoa-roasty grains over some grassy hops and some yeasty funk. Flavor is rich but rounded – big roasty malts mingle with massive fruity esters, a primal earthiness and sub notes of nuts, spice, and dried fruit….long rich finish. Nice bottle conditioned ale, but it deteriorates fast- the fresher the better

Dark cola brown with a massive tan crown floating on top. Aroma is very pleasant, filled with nuts, soapy notes, mild coffee, plum, and light caramel malt. So much roapy lacing. Cashews mixed with cherry with touch of alcohol in the finish. Lots of cherry!!! Muted Christmas spices some wheaty flavours. I'm loving this beer. Cherry is starting to morph into blueberry. Mouth feel is smooth and thick, carbonation is perfect. Great brew I was not expecting any thing this awesome.

The beer poured a slightly hazed reddish-brown colour with a rocky 1" tan coloured head. Aroma is yeast, sugar, sweet malt, and spices. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is sweet and fruity with a dry spicy finish. Alcohol is extremely well hidden. -

This was a nice nice surprise .. . pours a medium brown, good foam .. . spices are done so beautifully .. a dubbel is the norm, but add some spice and its propelled to greatness .. . would like to try more from this brewery .. . Two pretzels are walking down the street. One is assaulted. ..

Poured out a very clear light mahogany with a thin skiff of white bubbles hanging out. The aroma on the mellow side but that isn’t to say that what I have here isn’t pleasant. An interesting mix of mulled spices, cinnamon, coriander, cloves, candied orange peels, allspice. The allspice is the dominant contributor... man, there is a lot of it. Dark sweet fruits and a very late caramel malt. I love this aroma! The taste is similar to the aroma. Immediate allspice and cloves that never leave the mouth until finally fading into a lengthy aftertaste. More candy, the zing of peppermint without the flavour, cinnamon, red ripe berries, stiff raisin, I keep thinking chocolate (but it seems odd here although I won’t rule it out), floral breath, licorice (finally!). Hell, this beer is the shit! Every sip snaps my taste buds to attention. The mouth feel is thick with lots of different things loitering during different sips. Great after taste. No hint of 9% at all. This is an exceptional brew with no flaws except for the fact that I cannot buy it here. Slides in to my top beers with class and ease.

This is truly one of the best beers to come out of Quebec. A nice reddish-brown murkiness in a glass with an aroma of sweet malt, spices, and dark fruits. The flavour profile is similar with the yeastiness coming through in the end. Delightfully good!

Bottle: Poured a deep burgundy brown color ale with a big foamy head with great retention and lacing. Aroma of anis is totally dominating but still well back by some strong malt. Taste is dominating by anis with some candi sugar. I thought the anis was a bit overwhelming and could have been more balance. Body was above average and alcohol was well hidden. Nicely done overall but a better calibration of spices would bring this to world class level.
