My local store switched out the Steel Reserve on me. I didn't notice until I got the bottle home that it was the 6.0% variety. I'm disappointed. The 8.1% had a noticeable metal-type of taste to it and it's not present in the 6.0%. I'm not sure why the store switched or was even aware of a lighter version, but I'm going to pay attention now. Boo.

Pours a nice clear topaz with a thick ivory head. Aroma presents crisp malt and a hint of apple - nothing else, but on the other hand I'm not expecting much. Flavor gives crisp malt with a hint of sweet apple. Texture features fair fizz and so-so body. Not too shabby.

Clear yellow, small white foam ring. Barnyard aroma and over-sweet taste. Never again. Flushed most of it through the toilet, hopefully the rats drown in it. (Little Rock 201705)

The taste is is bitter and sour with the first couple of can, but once you've let it set in, you can come to appreciate the smoothness of the lager. I've honestly come to prefer it over slightly more expensive beers.

Tastes like metal, smells awful but gets you good and wrecked. Not the worst beer I've had because of its effect but far from the best. Tried this on a friend's suggestion. His taste is now in serious question.

Disgusting. Worse than anything I've tasted in a LONG time. Malty in a sour vomit sort of way. I was not surprised to find it was manufactured by Miller. Yuk. I'm sorry I fell victim to the catchy marketing story about the steel. I will never buy this beer again. Maybe the college kids down the street will drink it...

This one was tough to choke down. I had it out of a can so I'm not sure how it pours or the head or lacing. Bad taste, bad aroma equals bad beer.

ARGH! I can't believe that I actually paid good hard earned money for this, this fermented dish water. The pour is piss yellow with a momentary small white head and absolutley no lacing. This is absolutely undescribable as it had no taste what so ever. This is very little more than carbonated water with a bit of color and malt. I really want to see the hydrometer reading on this beer to verify it is a high gravity. The only thing high is my level of disgust and dissapointment. ICK!!!!!

Tour de Swill, Summer 2008. Pours a light golden yellow with a short-lived white head and very little lacing. Serious carbonation. Aromas of sweet malts and syrup with a very slight honey. Taste is fairly weak with a sweetness from some malt and a very slight floralness. Hops virtually non-detectable. Not the worst beer I've ever had but not near the best. Very, very average to below-average.

The stuff that gutter tales are made of... I'm quite disappointed that I can even comment on this one, but it was offered by an individual that I know and he was genuinely interested in me having a beer with him. I did. I drank it and didn't even grimace. Hopefully that'll be the last one that I drink.
