A generous amount of Mt. Hood hops gives the Diablo a sweet cereal aroma that masks its deceptive nature. This sinfully good ale is true to its name.

hell no-an american strong ale on ratebeer (maybe), an american blonde ale on beeradvocate(no) and a imperial ipa here? not even close. nowhere in this beer is the hoppiness of any IIPA i've ever had. it doesn't fit any style well, but strong ale fits best, though there were yeast caracteristics that made me think it may be a BSA. Oh well. A decent beer. Underrated IMO, even though i liked it less than most at the shindig.

22 oz bottle, best by Jan 2009. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet vegetal and cereal malts with some metallic alcohol.

The flavor is sweet sugary and bready malts and a little fruit with some plasticy bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, I didn't care for this at all. Too many off notes and overly sweet and vegetal. It is drinkable though. As I go through the bottle it mellows out some.

UGH UGH UGH Poured a pale amber color small head and lacing was junk. Aroma was way fruity. Flavor was watered down thin fruits and where in the world was the hops. ugh should have poured.

Can you say train wreck? Well, it doesn't matter if you can't, this was that anyway. The pour was whimpy looking, amber, somewhat flat, weak head/lacing for a style that certainly has more to offer. The aroma was fruity bad with some citrus and caramel malts. The flavor was weak and watery, fruity (peaches / pears / apples), completely missing a hop statement for a dIPA, IPA, even for a pale ale. Too watery to be caramel sweet and the mouthfeel was just way too thin. One of the worst dIPA's I've ever had.

Pear aroma, light yellow color. Thin fruity flavor with thin mouthfeel. Some other kind of off flavor was also present. Really not good...a waste of my liver.
