"Pizza Beer" IS A DEBRIS FREE product. The Margarita pizza is put into the mash & steeped like a tea bag. A whole wheat crust made with water, flour & yeast is topped with tomato, oregano, basil & garlic. The essence of the pizza spices is washed off with hot water and filtered into a brewpot, where it is boiled for a long, long time. During the process, we add hops & spices in a cheesecloth type bag & filter the cooled liquid into a fermentation vessel. (big glass 6 gallon water jug). After a week or two, the beer is good to go. Keg it or bottle it.

This is one of those beers you just drink once so you can experience. It is a cross cross between a Budweiser mixed with V8 juice mixed with a blended pizza. Interesting is about all it is.

A murky sunshine in color with a decent frothy textured, off white head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. It settles eventually into a thin soapy ringlet. Basil and pepperoni are dominate in the nose. The basil dominates in the tasting. Really clever complement to an Italian meal. Light and not overfilling.

Shared bottle with Ratchet and a couple of others. Slightly hazed yellow pour, little head nor lacing. Basil, light garlic and pepperoni in the nose and taste, really, more Italian spices, slight malts, funky linger - like a pizza - which is the intent. It is what it is. But I dig it.

Excited to try this, wish i had a pizza to go with it.. . smell is of oregano, tomato, and garlic with a touch of hay .. . tastes like pizza.. . a bit thin but it's interesting and wacky, i really like it!! .. .I shouldn't be here. I'm not supposed to be within two hundred feet of a school... or a Chuck E. Cheese.

Sampled on 1/8/2010. This spiced ale pours a medium gold color from a 16oz bottle. Small to no head. The aroma is tomato sauce, oregano, garlic and herbs, and perhaps a touch of grain and cereal. A medium bodied spiced ale. The malts are cereal and grain. The hops are spicy. This beer is just SO WRONG on so many levels. There is no malts and very little flavor except for some tomato sauce and a bunch of garlic. Just a totally weird beer. I am assuming that the brewers were trying to make a beer that smells and tastes like a pizza. They did that, but the fact that it is still totally undrinkable is another and probably more important fact. Rant over. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and herbal.

Sprecher Mamma Mia Pizza Beer 2.8 cheapdark 16 0z bottle with a twist off cap. There is even some sediment in there. Smells somewhat like tomatoes and basil. Lots of sparkling carbonation which maintains a decent white head. Pale lager looking but the sediment makes it cloudy near the end of the pour. Yes, it initially has a pizza and beer background. Interesting. Better tasting than I anticipated. It is a little like eating pizza and beer. Not much cheap lager, this is more like a mild ale. However, I do sense more than 5% even tho it is listed as 4.7% here. Yes, beleive it or not, this is a pizza flavor and beer. Finish is burping pizza. Not bad for what it is!

Like the other reviewers, I was a bit nervous to try this beer especially after a bad experience with Sprecher's Shakparo. Had this one with a pizza to try to get the full experience. Can detect a very faint pizza smell in the aroma and a bit of spiciness in the finish. Overall, a good brew that enhances the taste of pizza when enjoyed together.

What an interesting drinking experience. Sampled with cheese pizza of course. A golden appearance. The aroma is pepperoni, oregano, and cheese. The pizza flavor is there but not overpowering. Some spiceness shows through in the finish. Overall it does have a pizza flavor for sure but my only complaint is the body is a bit thin.

This was one of the most off-the-wall beers I've ever tried. I'm not even sure how to rate it. Definite smell of pizza ingredients and it tastes like your drinking a really good pizza. Very different but amazingly pretty good.

I was afraid to try this beer and I was expecting something totally nasty. I guess I followed through with it because I could then tell people that I tried a "pizza beer". It was good though. It poured a slightly cloudy golden color with a nice frothy white head. It had aromas of oregano and garlic and a little tomatoe pizza sauce in the background. The flavor incorporated all of your typical pizza qualities. I tasted the garlic, tomatoe, and the herbs. It all married well together and I was surprised to say the least.
