Part of gift pack with glass. Pours a fairly large frothy tan head and has a murky amber brownish appearance. Decent sticky lacing. Aromas of toasted malts, yeast, resin, some mild dark fruits (raisins, plums). Flavours are bready and mild spices, wheaty, some plums and raisins, hints of earthy hops. Slick and drying mouthfeel, a little bit creamy. Not too bad.

The 2018 Birthday Beer. The beer pours a translucent dark reddish brown with a creamy light brown head which lasts. There are seasonal spices and dark fruit in the aroma along with yeast, grains, and molasses. The mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, with average carbonation. The flavour is more sweet than bitter with the sweet sugary flavours coming through with the spices. The finish is both spicy and bitter at the same time. A well made holiday Belgian style ale that will do in a pinch if you can’t get a Corsedonk or St. Bernardus Christmas ale. -

Deep-amber colour, almost copper, mildly hazy with a warm yellowish-beige head, slowly going down leaving tiny patches of lacing. Beautiful holiday spices in the nose over warming alcohol, Belgian Ale yeast and hints of bananas, dark fruits. The taste also shows mostly the same with the wheat-banana notes and very light dark fruits. The mouthfeel is also warming. The spices do not stand out as much, as they well-blended with the malts. A nice winter warmer for this first big snow of the season. Not super complex, but I do like this.
