As everybody knows, Big Kahuna means big shot or important person. Yet Kahuna has a long and noble lineage. In ancient Hawaiian culture, the Kahuna held a central place of mystical importance, meaning high priest, wizard or expert. In modern times the Big Kahuna was the best surfer on the beach, embodied by the famous Hawaiian surfer Duke Kahanamoku. At Spearhead, Big Kahuna means a giant sized imperial IPA that will rock your soul. Like its little brother Hawaiian Style Pale Ale, Big Kahuna Imperial IPA® is brewed with pure pineapple juice. At 100 IBUs, this double dry-hopped ale explodes with Warrior, Cascade and Nelson Sauvin hops. It is unfiltered with a delicate carbonation and complex flavour and bouquet. Big Kahuna has a big, bold character reflective of its namesake and refreshingly floral, tropical finish.

LCBO Outlet #649 (Milton, Ontario, Canada - Sobey's Plaza)

    $4.95
The beer pours a translucent amber colour with a creamy light brown head that lasts several minutes. The aroma was cereal grains, light caramel, fresh citrus, and light yeast. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, slightly creamy, and average carbonation. The flavour is light caramel, citrus peel, yeast, and unfortunately, alcohol.

Looks like they brought this one back - nice ! Pours a clean, maybe a little unfiltered (at last pour), deep amber colour with a frothy-bubbly beige head, good stay and a little soapy lacing. Very fruity nose lots of sweetness from the pineapple juice used in this one. The taste shows mean bitterness, but the dryness is not to the max. Caramel malt base all-around. Flavours show some raisin notes with the grassiness. Goes down nicely for a 10% ABV beer, and the juice really balances things with the 100 IBU. Very well done !

Tall can from LCBO. Pours a massive frothing tan head and has a deep coppery appearance. Big thick soapy lacing. Medium carbonation. Aromas of grassy and herbal hops, some floral notes with a bit of citrus at the end. Flavours are citrusy, grassy and piney. Some subtle yeasty notes. Lots of hoppy bitterness on the palate. Goes down quite well for high abv (10%). Has a bit of a drying mouthfeel.
