IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Pours a clear medium amber with rather quickly fading head. Some grassy hops and sweet malt aromas. This seems to be an east coast style IPA, more caramel malt than hops, but a decent balance and good tasting beer. Medium mouthfeel with wet finish. This is a decent IPA but not something I'd probably buy again.

Pours a fairly clear orange amber with a sub one finger head that goes down very fast. Slow carbonation. Aroma is very very sweet of candy sugar with a mild hop pine note. Taste is fairly mild and is very sweet. Slight hop bitterness at the end with the normal dryness. Not half bad.

Dark golden colour pour. What little head there is settles quickly. Leaves no lacing. Mild aroma of caramel malt and pine. Tasty and drinkable but not a stand out. Has a little malt sweetness, floral and a long pine aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel.

Enjoyed a bottle on my recent trip to Toronto. Pours a minimal size head and has a pale copper appearance. Huge citrus aromas, very hoppy. Light malts. Flavours are of bitter hops, cascade variety, inoffensive just lots of it, very citrusy. Very light roasted malts. Hint of Grapefruit on the finish. Nice dirty lacing. Creamy mouthfeel. Some bitterness on the palate. Pretty good.

Two with dinner at The Delaware. Cloudy orange body with modest white head. Nice aroma, with hops, citrus, and pine needles. Likewise the flavour. Smooth, solid mouth and a balanced finish.

12 oz. bottle from Pinocchio’s (Media) poured into a Duvel tulip. Beer pours a golden, slightly cloudy amber with a smallish head that dissipated into an uneven coating. Lacing was present throughout, although thin. Nose was citrus hops with some grassiness and floral notes as well. Taste was citrus (especially orange and lemon zest) with nice balance added from the caramel malt. Mouthfeel was light for an IPA and carbonation was moderate to light with little stickiness. This was a refreshing beer I will try agai

My first Southern Tier and I was suitably impressed... Deep ornage/copper with a fluffy white finger and a half head... laces well. Nicely piney, citrusy, hoppy aroma and flavor. Medium bodied... excellent specimen of the type. Looking forward to my other Southern Tiers...

Aroma is strong and hoppy with an undertone of grapefruit, just like any good IPA. It pours a clear amber with a typical white head. Flavor is very hoppy, only a little bitter, with hints of citrus and just a whisper of sweetness. Texture is fairly fizzy, rough and tingly. Not too shabby.
