2XSMASH is the newest in our line of single malt and single hop India Pale Ales, brewed with Mosaic hops and Special pale malt. Even simplified to one variety of hop and one type of malt, it is amazing how complex the flavor is. Mosaic hops are known for their luxurious tropical citrus notes like passionfruit and work absolutely brilliantly with the richness of Special pale malt. Cheers!

Part of their Overpack'd 15-pack from Publix in Kissimmee, Florida. Slightly hazy, golden-orange colour, big frothy light-beige head, good retention and lots of foamy lacing. Lots of oranges in the nose at first, giving sugar notes, fruitiness, but then becomes balanced with some mild grasses. The taste has the bitterness from the hops, lighter citrus notes and alcohol. A warming and dry mouthfeel. Decent, but not as well-balanced as expected for the style. Seems like done quickly, so not blending the alcohol as nicely.

Sampled in the 15-pack overstocked variety pack. Has potential, but the alcohol bite was a bit overwhelming. More of a hop bomb, as the balance leans towards the bitter side. Enjoyable, but wouldn’t really go out of my way.

Bottled on 12/10/2015. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head that rapidly disappears. Minimal lacing. Aromas of tangerine, light pine and fresh baked bread. Tangerine leads the flavor, augmented with floral pine and sweet malt. Dry, bitter finish. Full mouthfeel. A decent IIPA, but lacking a bit in the flavor department, IMO. Alcohol is not detectable, but is quite sneaky.

Clear light amber colour with a small head that dissipated quickly. Zero lacing. Pine and herbal aroma. Breaded malt starts the flavour followed by citrus, pine, pepper and is slightly herbal. Simple and tasty.
