Clear orange, off-white lasting, lacing foam. Definately pumpkin aroma and taste, quite perry as well. Not bad, different. Light bitter aftertaste. (Chicago 201510)

Some pumpkin comes through in the aroma, along with spice and a bit of a caramel malt character, as well as a bit of a vegetable note. The flavor is also a bit more mild in the pumpkin spice, with a little more bitterness than other pumpkin beers, though more like an under ripe fruit or herbal tea bitterness. Not as pumpkin heavy as other pumpkin beers, but it’s still there, and the beer itself seems better crafted than most.

This style is hit or miss for me, which this beer is a miss. Has a little too much spice and not balanced enough. Semi-rusty flavor and feel. Thinner appearance with an ok feel. Glad I only tried in a sample flight, as I would not be happy with an entire 6-pack. If you enjoy pumpkin beers, then I can see a higher rating....as it is drinkable, just not my cup of tea.

Pours a slightly opaque amber body with a small off white head with good lacing. The aroms is very sweet and fresh smelling. Pumpkin up front and a distinct hop undertone. The spice is there, but not dominating. The taste does not follow the aroma the way I expected it would. Earthy tasting hop flavors and a bit of a bread like character initially, followed by a brief pumpkin taste, finishing quite bitter. The mouthfeel is medium bodied brew with ample carbonation. Finishes crisp. I most note that I can't stand anything pumpkin!

I really enjoyed this beer, great pumpkin pie aroma and flavour without having a topn of alcohol to try and mask it. This is an easy drinking ale that goes down well and packs a flavour punch. Try it if you haven't.

Poured from the bottle. Deep orange amber pour with a cloudy look and a thick white head. The aroma has a pumpkin spice, vegetable aroma with a light toasted malt smell. Right away there are flavors of cinnamon, allspice and clove along with some pumpkin and vegetable and malt.

An exceptional standard (i.e. 5%abv) pumpkin beer. This stood out amongst many of the others recently tasted and I'd take it over many of the huge alcohol monsters that are popping up everywhere. Once again Smuttynose creates a fantastic example of a basic spiced pumpkin brew. Plenty of malt to back it up and keep a balance. Great looking pour and an overall wonderful experience. This may be my new go to pumpkin beer.

Pours a hazy golden amber with a fine-bubbled, creamy off-white head. Rich, malty aroma has undertones of cinnamon and pumpkin. Flavor has firm pumpkin and cinnamon tones as well as malty and woody hints. Fizzy, smooth texture leaves behind a pleasant tingle.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The bottle date reads "Best Before Feb 10" and it was sampled on 9-12-2009. Appearance: The body has a deep orange amber color with a cloudy look. The pour produces a one finger thick white cap of foam. It slowly fades down to just a very thin layer of bubbles that makes a little slice lacing on the glass. Smell: The aroma has a spicy, vegetable/squash like bouquet with some light toasted malt notes as well. Taste/Palate: Up front there are solid spice flavors of cinnamon, allspice and clove with some roasted pumpkin and toasted malt underneath. The finish sees a good balance of flavor as the spicy hops creeps in and adds some nice bitterness to the mix. The palate has a solid medium body with average carbonation and a mellow drinkable texture. Notes: This was a very solid Pumpkin Ale with good pumpkin flavor and spice balance.

Slightly cloudy orange pour with a nice white head and ample lacing. Nice spice aroma with nutmeg, lots of pumpkin, some cinnamon. Taste is much like the aromas with lots of pumpkin pie spicing and pumpkin flavor. This one much better than my first bottle.***************** (original rating)>>I expected more... poured a nice amber color with a fluffy head head and some lacing. Aromas of spices, slight pumpkin, then surprisingly some slight peaches and some metallic funk. Taste is much more bitter than expected with a slight pumpkin then a metallic bitterness. Maybe I got a skunked bottle - will try again. But for now - no.************
